Sorry to say very disappointed today. Attractive setting and eventually the food was good although their pricing is a bit high comparing with similar establishments. The main problem was that the food had several bits missing and we had to ask staff for thr missing...bits. The bacon and hash browns that they didn't even notice were missing from both the burgers and the vegetable burger was missing the mashed avocado and the hash browns so not really what you would expect especially as they are producing them day in and put.More

This is a sweet this bar / restaurant inside the fort at Southsea. The setting is great and the courtyard tables were pleasantly sheltered on what was a warm day. We ordered some mains and a number of sides. They came very quickly and the...service was very good. I didn’t recognise it at all from some of the recent reviews. We found the staff to be exceptionally quick and very professional. The food was freshly cooked and the portions were absolutely enormous. I have never seen such large sides in my life! On the whole the food was good; my focaccia was cold which didn’t make for a great sandwich and the cheese fondue had a very milky (and not very cheesy) taste. Apart from that the food was good and I would definitely come back here if I am in the area.More

The castle itself is free to enter, and the breakfast at the courtyard cafe did not disappoint. It was a birthday so we had a table for ten. The staff were very polite and helpful, all the food was delicious and served hot. There is...no car park for the castle as it is a real castle built at the time of Henry the eighth‘s rein, so parking for the castle wasn’t even a thing when it was built, it is only a short walk from the road, to get to the drawbridge, or you can park at the D-Day museum (all payable) it is a very unique place to have breakfast or lunch and I would highly recommend it.More

The last twice I went here it was amazing however my visit recently was disappointing. I order a cream tea. The scone was a tiny shop bought offering and definitely not home made. This needs changing as the price and size/quality does not match. The...coffee was disgusting. £6.50 for this. I do wonder what they ask when you arrive if you want just drinks or food- depending on which menu to give you. I found this an intimidating question to start with but if they offered both people who may just want drinks may then change their mind…missed money opportunities I felt. I would not re visit here.More

Very, very disappointing. We have lived in the Portsmouth area all our lives but had never visited before and were so pleased when our Great nephew whose 30th birthday it was along with his mum's chose to come to the Courtyard from London. I chose...fish and chips and I must say the fish was huge but the chips were luke warm, several of our party chose the salad options which did look lovely and were good value for money. Sadly there was a mistake with the numbers and 3 of our party's meals didn't arrive they had all ordered fish and chips. Their fish portions were half the size of the othe'rs that came out first but at least their chips were hot. Needless to say we won't be returning.More

Have to say the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs breakfast with dill cream is an absolute game changer. Who ever came up with this dish is a genius and should have a Michelin Star (or 2). Highly recommended.

A lovely venue for eating and drinking both indoors, if inclement ,or outside as when we visited. There are also evening drinks events. Really pleasant young staff that served us with a smile and a chat which was nice to find. Food was excellent and...good value. This is a must try place when on holidays here. Toilets clean and tidy and area safe for kids. Parking close by in the D-Day Experience Pay and Display car park close by.More

A sunny Bank Holiday and we happened to find this place. Lovely, sunny Courtyard with a good breakfast menu. The waitress greeted us with‘service might take a while as hundreds of people have just arrived.’ Thankfully it turned out that they hadn’t! We were served...swiftly and efficiently although it did seem to be a bit of an effort. Food and coffee was good. Great setting and ambiance.More

What a fabulous find a great cocktail bar come restaurant in the historic surroundings of King Henry Vlll fort in south sea England. The Sunday lunch is second to none the best by far I have eaten out even better than the top restaurants in...London which claim to have celebrity chef owners and I do not exaggerate about that. I can not recommend this lovely place enough please forget chains and local pubs cafes for great food and atmosphere go to this fantastic restaurant.More

We went in for food today and were really looking forward to it. It was very quiet when we arrived. We then waited around 45 minutes for burgers. One of the dishes a southern fried chicken burger came out cold and burnt. They had even...melted the cheese around the chicken to try and cover it up. It was sent back. Unfortunately the service was even worse, a half hearted apology and then no one ever came back to see how the food was. I would not recommend. Especially as it wasn’t even a cheap place to eat.More
