Superb home made pastries, really good coffee and a welcoming owner - what more could you want. And they have a lovely, small garden too. Best to visit with small groups as it's a fairly small cafe - maximum 4 I think.

I highly recommend this pastry coffee shop as they sell homemade cakes and quiches that are delicious. The place was not crowded so it is easy to find a table and there is a garden, too.

One of the rare businesses that does not need to heavily advertise :-). The homemade quiche is the best I have had in the area and the pastries and cakes are beautiful! The service is friendly and professional and it is has a different feel...to anywhere else in Southsea. I will continue to support Casa de Castro as I appreciate homemade pastries etc of a very high standard and the service is excellent!More

This lovely little cafe is the best around for a coffee and quiche or lovely cake. The owner is always so friendly and helpful. We supported them through lockdown when it was just take away but have been in garden since and it was as...good as ever. Give it a go you will love it. The lemon drizzle is to die for!!More

Excellent cappuccinos, the best homemade pastries in town, and friendly service from Quentin. We love to come here for quiche and salad for lunch and cannot resist a cake too. A local independent which we will always support, especially during these difficult times.

I don't usually do sweet stuff, but the cinnamon bun here was SUBLIME and there was a huge range of incredibly appetizing stuff on sale (allegedly the custard tarts are wonderful...but as I don't like custard tarts, I can't vouch for that). Coffee was also...good and the service very friendly.More

A really lovely place, with beautiful homemade cakes and pastries - the quiche my personal favourite! Always a friendly service and you can sit in or take away (...or both if you're like me). I love the ambience, they don't try to copy anyone else....I wish it was on my doorstep!More

We love this place. Every delicious thing is baked on the premises by the husband & wife team and it's all amazing. I strayed away from my custard tart habit today & didn't regret it - the cinnamon buns were so light & tasty I!...Great coffee too!More

My fiancee bought these for me. They were packed in a sturdy take away box. The custard tarts were heavenly. The crispy outer layer encasing the soft and gooey custard filing. Simply delightful and unique. We will definitely go back for some more. Thank you...Casa de Castro.More

we visited the place on the rainy day so we couldn’t enjoy the garden. It didn’t spoil the impression as Portuguese tarts were delicious.

It's been here a few years now, and slightly re-modelled inside to make it a bit more customer comfortable. The Portuguese custard tarts are bliss and the staff always efficient and friendly. It's kept up its standards and it bakes on site in the continental...fashion. All good.More

Came in out of the cold wind and rain, to be sadly disappointed with this place. The ambience was very nice, warm and calm, but unfortunately we were disappointed with both the food and drink. Sadly the Belgium hot chocolate really did taste like instant...hot chocolate from the supermarket, and luke warm too. The pear tart was very plain and the lemon drizzle cake was dry and almost developing a crust around the edge. The Danish pastry was very nice and fresh, but at £14 for two hot chocolates and three cakes, two not so good! I was quite unimpressed. The place does however have a lot of very good reviews, so I will give it another try in a couple of months.More

Everyone loves their Portugese style tarts. It is a cosy place run by a Brazilian/French couple. The husband does front of house while his wife cooks fabulous cakes and pastries. A nice non-chain place to meet a friend for a chat and nice bites to...eat.More
