Certainly more affordable than the Falcon down the road, the Royal Oak is very much a classic 'pub-in-the-village' kind of place, although a lot of the decor appears very new and smart. Busy but not too loud on a Saturday night, we had to wait...More

Good selection of beers, gin of the month and a lovely log fire! What more could you ask for in this picturesque village of Painswick. We had an evening meal which was good homely food, nothing fancy but very tasty. A nice size portion which...More

Just popped in for a pint to escape the rain. Cute little pub, nice a quiet when I arrived although I overheard the staff say how busy the lunch rush was. Nice open roaring fire on one side of the pub and nice comfy seats!...More

We had a sandwich each before the Welsh rugby match, the food was excellent as was the quality of the beer. Really good atmosphere in the pub with both locals and people from further away enjoying themselves.

We watched the 6 nations game here on Saturday and the atmosphere and friendliness was excellent. The beer was excellent and the result (an Irish win) was just what we were looking for!!
