First impressions of the dining room were good and the renovated room had plenty of character and warmth.Service although a little haphazard was friendly and welcoming.Three of our party of four had fishcakes for an entrée and these were most enjoyable and all of us were looking forward to our main course. We all ordered sirloin steaks to be cooked to... We met friends for lunch as The Old Spot was most conveniently situated for us all to get there from different directions, it was a good choice. It was very busy. The menu options were sufficiently broad to cater for most tastes and between us we sampled a fair range of those offered! They were all good mains, sensible portions... More

Welcomed straight away and ordered quickly. The food was good but not worth £50 for the two of us only Main meals and a drink each. We could hear our waitress and the other Lady on the bar arguing about who had more experience from the other room! We had finished our meals and were sitting with our plates for... More

The Old Spot never fails to please. I hadn't been for some months until last week when a colleague and I lunched there. The menu offered a good selection and value at about £13 for two courses, but we settled for one each. My home made faggot and merguez sausages with rich gravy and creamy mash hit he spot as... ...certainly one of the most tasty bar meals I have ever had! Was dining solo, and it was a busy Saturday, but they kindly fitted me in without a booking. Lovely friendly table service, good atmosphere in the bar, (not too noisy!) and a truly delicious caramelised onion and goats' cheese tart, (quite unlike any such tart I have had... More

This beautiful pub is such a lovely place to visit. We hadn't booked but they were able to fit us in in the bar area. Note to self... book first! The food was incredible and I couldn't fault the service. It was really busy but the two ladies working had it all covered. I will definitely be back again and... More

Generally, the service was great from the moment we walked in through the door. The only exception to this was after our main course was served, we wish we had been asked if we wanted anything further so that we could request extra gravy but that was a minor niggle, not a problem. The food was so good that we... More

We called in here, no table reservation as it was a Tuesday evening. We were welcomed in and seated within minutes in the bar. Great menu to select from. We both had the lamb. What a fantastic choice. It was excellent mains and a lovely dessert. We'll certainly be going back.

Can't add much to the reviews posted, excellent in every way. I had calfs liver with beef and dauphinoise potatoes. Very rich and very very good. Pub full of character and loads of dishes I'd eat, spoiled for choice. Only a few minutes off the M5 with parking and wonderful rural location with beer garden for warmer seasons.
