Visited during the Scallop Festival, had a nice relaxing lunch close to the open fire. Good ambiance, and the decor is the right side of refurbished and old. The service and the food was excellent but portion size for my Scallop, Squid Ink Risotto was very small for the price, all it needed was a little more rice which would... More

We loved this bar. The food looked amazing although we didn't eat here but we loved the atmosphere. Lots of good wines and really cosy place to drink.

Charming hotel , nice clean , well appointed but small room, but hey its a 15th century inn, not a modern box, if you want character in the gorgeous town of Rye then this is a good place to start. We were going to go out for dinner but were lured to stay by the menu and were not disappointed,... More

Popped in for a couple of beers (good selection of local brews, 3 legs IPA was v. pleasant) and roast dinner after a walk along the beach. We had planned to get there for 3 but inclement weather meant we were sitting down by 2, which was lucky as by 3 it was packed. Roast beef was well cooked and... More

I go to the Standard reasonably regularly because the food, service and atmosphere never dips in quality. Lots of pubs and restaurants in Rye have off days for either reasons of chef's day off, staff leaving, bad service etc but you know that a trip to The Standard assures you of friendly staff, a good welcome and high quality every... A proper old school pub with great beers and food. Lovely beamed surroundings, friendly staff a great atmosphere. Allows dogs as well. Recommended for lunch or an evening meal.

Lovely warm and cosy atmosphere on a cold and windy day. The service was friendly and the food was delicious and piping hot. The best fish and chips I've had in a long time.

Can't imagine what this place is like in the Summer. It was full when we visited, at the time of the worst this Winter could throw at us. The front bar is tiny and fills up very quickly (a shame really because it is on the main drag down to the Antique Quarter and must get overwhelmed in the Summer,... More

I've eaten here a few times now and it can be a bit hit and miss with the food. On my last visit I had the Belly of Pork, which was chewy and fatty, lukewarm and generally not very nice. Other people in our party had the same and agreed. Service was poor and they were struggling with the sheer... More
