Went to Redroaster with my daughters mainly because I'd like to book Pike and Pine at some point in future and after following the progress of refurb I was intrigued to see how it looked and shaped up . Unfortunately not too well ! Lovely sunny afternoon in Brighton and we really thought the light, decor and ambience was great... More

With post-industrial décor, self contained unisex toilet cubicles and fair trade menu this is either the definition of nu-age Kemptown or a slightly poncy pastiche. However they have combined contemporary food presentation with decent portion size, while service was friendly if not the speediest in initially handing over the menu. Pain au Raisin was very tasty and croissant with hot... More

Came here to have brunch and experience the ambience before our dinner that was booked at the pike and pine later that night. Was very busy with no spare tables. We were fortunate enough only to have to wait a few minutes for one. Service was welcoming, menu left you spoilt for choice with dishes around the £10 mark. Opted... More

Been looking forward to Matt Gillan opening his new restaurant in Brighton and was not disappointed when we first arrived, great glass door lol. We went for the 8 course menu and was quite amazing! Really tasty food which I would not think of! Staff were fantastic Look forward to going back again!

Popped in for coffe and danish. Good service and great coffee Good atmosphere busy due to brighton festival , but did not have to wait long to be served. Only one toilet does all. Not sure if you were allowed upstairs. No signs regarding that.

The venue was completely empty, so took a seat outside. We was waiting to be served but was just ignored! The staff was in clear view of us and was more interested in writing their signs! Wonder how they manage to make any money! The terrace used to be full of happy coffee-drinkers. Lovely sunny day today and totally empty....... More

Really excited to visit the new red roaster today. The space is open, airy and beautiful. Unfortunately, the food just didn't meet expectations. Couple of dishes were ok- salmon with waffles and lemon tart but the chicken salad, cauliflower and tiramisu simply weren't good enough. No sign at all of a Michelin starred chef influencing the lunchtime food or service.... More

Obviously someone has spent time and proper consideration on how to make this place look stylish - and having to overcome the moaning ninnies and haters from the old 'Red Roaster' days - can't be easy. So was really up for being impressed with the food. But when my eggs, bacon, toast and grilled tomatoes came - albeit on a... More

It's a beautiful venue, I really liked the decor. Unfortunately the member of team that served me was less impressive. Are you supposed to wait to be seated? Maybe that's where I went wrong and just chose a table. We ordered coffee which was decent, although I think there are better cups to be had on St James's. However the... More

Hi Helen, Unfortunately, I think I know who you are referring to. Our apologies for a below standard visit. I would love to try and persuade you to give us another try. Would you contact me at mike@redroaster.co.uk. I would be very grateful and it would be very helpful to us. Apologies again. Mike More
