What a gem of a place this is, how pleased we were that we managed to get booked in last minute. The meat platter and the lamb where outstanding and the wines are delicious. We were served by Christian who was full of knowledge and...More

Visiting Brighton for the day on business, we did as we always do in a new town or city scoured Trip for a good lunch choice. We were not disappointed with our choice, we like to sit at the bar most people sat at tables....More

English's didn't have a table so they recommended here. I actually think it is better than the more famous seafood spot around the corner, as I had lunch there the next day and much preferred here. I had six oysters and crab rillettes, artichokes, lovage...More

The food is great although I have to admit I always get the same thing which is the platters. Perfect to share Bremen two or three. I always mean to try something new but then I remember how good my usual is and order it...More

Arguably the best restaurant in Brighton and one of the best in England, Plateau serves a small selection of amazing starters and main courses, coupled with very unusual and not available elsewhere organic and unfiltered wines. To give you an example, our dinner consisted of...More

I sat at the busy bar with my friend and asked a waiter to book a table for us and another three who would join later. When the friends came in, the table was not ready and the waiter told us to stay at the...More

Took a Visit here from recommendation a few months ago, although we booked a table it was not quite ready so we sat at the busy bar and had a few drinks whilst waiting to be seated. We sat upstairs, it was quite a let...More

Late lunch at Plateau. Hadn't booked a table but welcomed despite them being quite busy. There's a simple, ethnic cafe feel to the place. The fayre is organic, including the extensive wine list which might partly explain the cost, £90 for a shared vegetarian platter,...More

Description
Independent bar à vin, restaurant & cocktail bar based in The Lanes, BrightonWe are a unique bar à vin & restaurant with a passion for great food & wine. We have put a great deal of time & love into selecting our wines. At Plateau you can discover interesting & affordable wines that you are unlikely to see on other local wine lists. Our selection is mostly natural with some biodynamic & organic examples. We have sourced wines from local Sussex producers to renowned names & newcomers. To soak up the wine we serve ‘bites’, small dishes perfect to share or great as a starter. Follow your ‘bites’ with a ‘plateau’ to share or a 'plat' & that’s our dinner experience… although don’t forget dessert! Our chefs source organic, fresh, local produce as much as possible.Did we mention the cocktails? They’re probably the best in town & although we don’t serve Carlsberg we do serve some pretty imaginative beers from around the world. We have some top quality spirits, including some rare rum, whisky & cognac…and I almost forgot, keep an eye out for the ‘cocktail de la semaine’ & ‘beer of the moment’.There is no set way to visit Plateau, you can match the wine to the food or the food to the wine. Pop in just for a drink, a few bites or a three-course meal – the idea is that you do whatever suits you.
