Whilst staying at The Grand, Brighton for a conference some friends and I decided to treat ourselves to a special dinner one night and chose this restaurant within the hotel. The seafood was out of this world and so much choice. We all had a different starter and then three of us chose Brill for a main course as we... More

The breakfast provided was inclusive in package average and unorganised had to wait 20 mins for coffee and staff were generally disinterested I saw one customer being very rude to a staff member talking to them rudely I felt embarrassed for her but some of the clientele are over pretentious which I was uncomfortable with really bad experience overall

Was told that my food was gluten free but it clearly wasn't as 1 hour after my food the reaction wasn't so good. I was assured at each stage that the course was ok but I really suspect that the contamination issues were not taken into account! Not happy....

So slow with the food that the lights were out and the disco turned up before we finished dessert. Sat down at 8pm, dinnet served 9.30. Too slow for the money. And too slow for your own disco apparently.

This Restaurant is in the Grand Hotel and we dined there on our first night when staying in the Hotel. We had been told the food was excellent and perhaps the a la carte menu is better but, as we were a large party, we were told that the chefs would not be able to cope if we all ordered... More

Afternoon tea is worth the money. Enough sandwiches, scones & pastries. Service very good. Seating was quite uncomfortable, armchairs aren't ideal as you can't reach the table when sitting in the chairs, you have to sit on the edge of your seat to reach your tea etc. making your back ache. Would also be nicer to have a stricter dress... More

Description
As one of the country's top hotels, it follows that a meal in its Kings Restaurant will be one to remember. The De Vere Grand Hotel was made famous by Quadrophenia and an endless parade of visiting dignitaries including JFK, Thatcher and Brown, but offers an atmosphere and history in more than just links to famous names. Here, you can enjoy classic English cuisine, with contemporary touches constantly updated by the Grand's passionate and inventive chefs. The locally inspired menu is a real delight, with food as sumptuous and original as the dcor. Everything is prepared freshly to the exacting standards of executive chef Alan White. There is a distinct Sussex flavour to the menu which includes locally caught fish, free range Sussex chicken and mushroom pie, and the shepherds pie is made with lamb that comes from Horam in East Sussex. The Kings Restaurant now also offers traditional Sunday roast lunch with all the trimmings at 13.95 for two courses.
