Today I was treated to the most delicious moist coffee cake my palate has ever been subjected to. It was a grey wet miserable morning but it didn't seem to matter sitting in the opulent surroundings of Michael's tea room sipping on Earl Grey and...More

Silver teapots, proper tea and cakes and scones that are first class. Friendly staff. Scones are freshly made, a sensible size and come with a pot of very clotted cream. Date cake was something I'd never had before but as I love dates, I thought...More

We really enjoy the weekly lunch time visit. Although we usually choose the same food there is a good variety on the menu. The staff are extremely friendly and it is clear they know many of the customers, like us, who must visit fairly often.

Having visited now on three occasions I have found this tea shop a little disappointing. Originally I gave a very good review, for both the service and the food, however..... my subsequent two visits have been less enjoyable. The second visit was early spring and...More

Really nice and friendly staff but felt could do with removing a table to give more room as very close to everyone and not much room to move around which was sad as a very nice place xxx

It was a drizzly day and we had just bought some jazz DCs from the music shop. The Singing Kettle was full so we walked on a little way to Badgers, and were not disappointed. Knowing that we were eating a substantial dinner we opted...More

Welcome to our historic tea house! Alfriston was granted its market charter in 1406, and the house at Badgers dates from 1510 – over 500 years old! We know it was the village bakery for 200 years until 1933, and proprietor Michael Luttig and manager Lynn Attfield continue the tradition of exceptional baking on the premises. “Dissenters” from St Andrews Church met here in the late 18th Century until they built their own independent church (now the United Reformed Church) in 1801.
