Visited the Elephant for lunch today. The fixed price menu of £19.95 is incredible value for a Michelin star restaurant. The food was absolutely sublime and the additional side dishes at £4 each were imaginative and tasty. Friendly knowledgable staff and a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. We checked out the tasting menu ( available evenings and by advance notice... More

I've always followed Chef/ owner Simon Hulstone on national TV and all his local work. Unlike most famous chefs, it is always great to see Simon in his kitchen. The food is just incredible, front of house are always there, never pushy. It's always a fantastic, relaxed dining experience here. I can't wait to step up to Simon's taster menu.

A group of 7 of us attended a Christmas meal here in December and it was once of the best meals out I have ever had! Staff were so attentive and were extremely good at what they do - they were all so polite and efficient, the food was very good too. Would highly recommend if you would like an... More

We heard about The Elephant, and so, whilst visiting Brixham went across for a meal. The restaurant is well decorated, and the service was attentive and pleasant without being overly formal. Our starters of crab and scallops were wonderful. Clearly great local produce, extremely well cooked and presented. The main course of beef fillet and duck were similarly really well... More

Booked a last minute lunch here with 7 friends, 1 child and 3 babies. Staff were lovely, this restaurant is very family friendly which you don't always get in mitchelin star restaurants. The set lunch menu was very good value for money and the salted caramel dessert was to die for.

A group of 12 of us visited The Elephant on 10th December 2016. The food and service were ok, however our group were very dissapointed when presented with the bill. which was all but £500 to find we had been charged £14 for water which no one had even asked for, and was just placed on the table. We wont... More

Such a shame you felt the need to write on here after we had sorted this all out via email and over the phone. Just to clarify for the readers of this review. One of your guests asked for mineral water and we provided this and when empty we replenished with permission, no tap water was mentioned by yourselves and... More

The title says it all. The food was beautifully presented but more importantly, was beautifully cooked and with an amazing array of flavours. My brother-in-law has trained under Michelin starred chefs himself and believed this was probably the best meal he'd ever eaten. My duckling main was perhaps the best cooked duck I've ever had....it didn't look pink enough for... More

Finally made it here for lunch after a friend recommended it ages ago. It isn't cheap but the choice and the cooking are worth the prices and we had an amazing time..one of the best meals we've had all year. We had a long lazy lunch having mackerel and crab starters (looked gorgeous and tasted great). Mains were hake (with... More

Description
The Elephant is a bright, informal restaurant which overlooks the beautiful Torbay harbour. It was the first restaurant in Torquay to be awarded a Michelin star which it maintains today. We aim to source all our ingredients locally and sustainably, many from our dedicated farm in Brixham. Please feel free to ask our front of house team about anything you are unsure of. Run by chef proprietor, Simon Hulstone and his wife Katy. Food is cooked by a talented team of chefs and served by friendly, professional team of staff. Diners can enjoy a delicious à la carte menu and set menus featuring local and sustainable fish, meat and vegetables, sourced from the surrounding area, in an informal and attractive setting. For an extra special culinary treat opt for the tasting menu. Expect friendly and knowledegable service without the formalities. All our dishes change regularly depending on which locally grown and reared (many sourced from our dedicated farm) ingredients are at their best.
