Lovely atmosphere and very knowledgeable staff who made you feel very welcome. Had the taster menu with the matching wine, both were superb. A great evening and taste bud experience for a special occasion.

Six of us went here on Tuesday evening to celebrate my birthday. The restaurant was quiet-ish, being midweek and out of season, but this did not detract from a wonderful evening. We all had the tasting menu and every one of us agreed each and...More

Our first visit to The Elephant and a very successful one! Our friends golden wedding anniversary. The Elephant like to think of themselves as informal fine dining, but this did not detract in any way from the smoothness of the service, the knowledge of the...More

The four of us chose The Elephant based mostly on its Trip Advisor review and proximity to the theatre where we had tickets for Van Morrison. What a find! Fabulous food, well-presented and well-priced, with an equally fab waitstaff. I'd highly recommend dining here.

Our friends were keen to revisit the Elephant, having dined there when it first opened. We enjoyed the taste of the food and atmosphere. The service is friendly yet efficient. The disappointing aspect of the meal was the minute portions. It took us a couple...More

Description
The Elephant is a bright, informal restaurant which overlooks the beautiful Torbay harbour. It was the first restaurant in Torquay to be awarded a Michelin star which it maintains today. We aim to source all our ingredients locally and sustainably, many from our dedicated farm in Brixham. Please feel free to ask our front of house team about anything you are unsure of. Run by chef proprietor, Simon Hulstone and his wife Katy. Food is cooked by a talented team of chefs and served by friendly, professional team of staff. Diners can enjoy a delicious à la carte menu and set menus featuring local and sustainable fish, meat and vegetables, sourced from the surrounding area, in an informal and attractive setting. For an extra special culinary treat opt for the tasting menu. Expect friendly and knowledegable service without the formalities. All our dishes change regularly depending on which locally grown and reared (many sourced from our dedicated farm) ingredients are at their best.
