This is a restaurant that we have visited many times and we would always tell anyone who was going to Plymouth to try it. It was a Greek/Turkish restaurant and the food was splendid - particularly the chicken ouzo. Then when we visited last week we discovered that Shirley Valentine's is now described as a Turkish restaurant. This meant that... More

We turned up without a reservation and they were unsurprisingly booked up, however they giggled some seats and managed to squeeze us in without making us feel rushed. The food was superb as always, the service swift and friendly. WHENEVER you are in the area pop in, it's by far the most pleasant atmosphere and best food for miles and... More

My partner and I recently visited here and we found the food to be really lovely. Our only real niggle about the restaurant was we weren't over fond of the atmosphere. Can't really place my finger on why, but it was a bit uneasy and claustrophobic. Other than that it was nice :)

We stumbled across this place and extremely glad we did. In one of the oldest buildings in Plymouth it was tastefully decorated with the old, exisiting features and a cosy feel. Super friendly and attentive service. We had the meze munch which was great value, big portions, good selection and was hugely satisfying. Will definitely be going back if we... More

Wonderful food with authentic tastes of Turkey. Lots of choice even for the most difficult to please palate. We had a family group who all enjoyed our meals although the Keleftico was deemed the best.

Had invited guests to this place.. It was pretty hot inside. One desktop fan which wasnt really doing much. One person waiting tables and managing the till. Food was ok but on the whole the experience was very very average which is a shame cause on a previous occasion we came out pleased. Theres another Turkish / Mediterranean restaurant close... More

Relaxed, no frills environment, attentive waitress, good food, plenty of it, tasty and authentic. Be careful not to over order though. Try the Lal Rose, love it. Well done.

Situated in a lovely old building in the Barbican this restaurant was recommended to us by a fellow eater in another restaurant in Plymouth. The menu is packed with a wide range of dishes which is always a bit of a worry as I prefer a narrower freshly prepared range of meals. I always think that if the menu is... More

We called on the night to get a table and they were very accommodating despite being very busy (think we were lucky). From the outset the staff were friendly and helpful with the menu as it was our first visit. The food was amazing, plenty of it and very tasty. If I was going to offer any downside, it would... Description
Welcome and Merhaba to Shirley Valentine's!

Our aim is to offer you, our valued customers, a taste of some of the best cuisine Turkey and the Mediterranean has to offer.
Turkish cuisine, originating from the blending of the Asian, European, Middle Eastern and African cultures and evolved under the influence of the Seljuk and Ottoman Cuisines over the centuries, offers thousands of delicious dishes and delicacies. With a wealth of traditional recipes on our menu we combine a variety of meats, fish and vegetarian dishes that promise to satisfy and surprise.
All of our dishes are completely homemade by our Turkish chefs using, where possible, only the finest locally sourced ingredients. We hope to provide our diners with a true taste of the best Mediterranean food in Plymouth, in a warm, relaxed and friendly atmosphere all encased in an atmospheric restored 16th century building.
