We were looking for some fish for lunch and we weren't disappointed! I had mixed shellfish and hubby had black bream - both excellent. Added bonus of friendly staff and decent beer - we could have stayed for the afternoon...

Came here for Sunday lunch as I noticed they did a good offer which is a roast dinner (beef, chicken or pork) with a dessert of the day (choice of 4) for £15 which was excellent considering the quality of the food. The pub itself is quirky inside which I love as it feels like you're inside a pirate ship... More

Popped into this place to escape the wind, Had a baileys coffee, we're VERY fussy over these but they were the best we'd had in the devon area, heard the lady at the bar whisking away preparing them correctly, topped off with a couple of coffee beans and an Amaretto cookie...

Went with a friend for an evening meal and oh what a disappointment. The prices are ridiculous for the food on offer. This was my second visit in recent succession. And my misgivings were quite justified. Veg undercooked as were the chips. Why does the chef insist on presenting the food such an excess of cabbage?. Garlic mushrooms dumped onto... More

My partner and I had a superb Valentine's Day meal at the Anchor. We shared a baked camembert which was absolutely sublime. He had the steak and ale pie, which was huge and very tasty. I chose the seafood gumbo - definitely to be recommended if you're a seafood fan (beware if you're not keen on spicy food, happily I... More

We decided we wanted a steak for our dinner and the Anchor Inn was nearby. We did not book but there was no need at that time of year. The rump steak was done to perfection. I had the masala sauce and my wife had the stilton. they where both very nice the mushrooms and onions that accompanied the steak... More

Came with friends to a meal on Friday, and from the minute we got there we were welcomed, hadn't booked but every effort was made to find us a table and we had a drink while we waited, food was super as always, and can always tell it's cooked from fresh!! As always ate too much but will be back... More

If I had to describe tonight in one word it would be "disappointed", especially as been going here for many years. Started off with a 10 minute wait at the bar before being served and seated, while most of the staff stood around chatting! Untrained but pleasant staff trying to manage poor quality (cold) over priced and not as ordered... More

Stopped off here at Cockwood for Sunday dinner. Lovely pub full of character. Bigger in side than it looks. Dog friendly. Excellent service. Delicious meal with all the trimmings.
