Lovely meal tonight in the Anchor. Great beer, food and service. Oh, and dog friendly! My steak and ale pie was excellent and my partner even loved her steak (she's a chef so she normally moans). Top pub.

Wow, our first visit and it will certainly not be our last. We had the most fabulous Christmas Lunch...superb value, £19.95 for three fabulous courses. Roast potatoes crunchy and home made, veg freshly cooked to order. Honestly can't fault the food or indeed the service....More

I will start with the only negative I can find, parking is limited and we were fortunate there was a space. I booked for 4 adults, we arrived an hour before our time but were greeted cheerily and seated straight away, the building is very...More

We don't always come to eat in a pub and it is nice sometimes just to come for a drink or two. The Anchor inn overlooks the River Exe estuary and the sea by Exmouth and is a very pleasant location. Good beer.

If you’ve not visited this place please do yourself a favour and book ASAP. This is a beautiful old pub with low ceilings and bags of character. It serves 5 cask ales and specialises in fresh locally caught seafood and shellfish dishes as well as...More

The Anchor is an ancient sea faring inn on Starcross harbour. It is all old beams, interior wooden cladding and much marinier memorabiliar. It is very cosy and atmospheric. There is nice bar and a restaurant specialising in sea food. The only downside that parking...More

Too hot upstairs...too hot for comfort. Super range of fish. Slight downside- Classic Moules Mariniere has much too much cream - shame as mussels otherwise lovely. Landlord's platter as starter was very generous portion and great combination of fish/meat sharing platter.

We enjoyed an excellent fish menu, but the portions were so generous that we were unable to finish them. If you're having the fabulous fish pie, for instance, you won't need a starter! That was my mistake! Excellent service.

We called in for a pint before our weekend stay in Dawlish. I was last here around 15-16 years ago as a 17-18 year old. An old pub with a lovely feel. Nice nautical theme throughout. Friendly in a lovely quiet location. Nice real ales.

Sorry for delay, you can also go by car, it's about 15-16 miles drive, find the A379 towards Dawlish. Cockwood is just off the A579 about 30-35 mins total
