Still an excellent little pub tucked away in the backstreets of Dartmouth. On arrival the bar area was busy, most of the downstairs restaurant area was reserved, and one small table remained. Unfortunately in the time it took to place my order another customer took...More

My colleague and I was strolling around Dartmouth and found The Dolphin away from the seafront of the town and it appeared a traditional pub with a good ambience. We only had a drink as we had eaten earlier but their menu looked appetising and...More

We were told about this Inn and went there for lunch. They offered a good selection and everything we had was very good and well cooked

Friendly pub open to the street. Lively entertainment with lots of busy activity. While it is a welcoming place, it's not the environment for a quiet pint. Seating is a bit tight.

Great news you had a pleasent trip to the Dolphin whilst in Dartmouth. 'Gem' is perfect word to discribe the pub; what we consider as one of the better ones about when there's so many that just open their doors and wait for the seasonal...More

We sought this pub out when stopping overnight in Dartmouth based on past TA reviews. We had already booked dinner elsewhere so made do with a beer, which was clearly well cared for. Quite a busy place and clearly popular with the locals - I...More

Hi Barry Sorry you felt the need to lie about your recent experience at the pub. If only there a 'Tourist Advisor' because you mate would be getting one star! I have worked in pubs for many years, dealing with every type of person with a range of attitudes. Yours was one of disdain. You grumpily picked up your drink and in a manner I can only describe as that of a petulant adolescent, barked "Err, plastic glasses??" To which I replied, in a similar manner as to mirror your unacceptable tone "Err, it's regatta" Yes, I did get the manager, because I was honestly far too tired to deal with your pathetic grumblings. We have all been working our butts off all summer, so the last thing we needed was some stuck-up prat on his ivory tower, complaining about the fact he had to drink out of a plastic cup. I suggest you pick up a paper or turn on the news, and have a look at what you really should be complaining about. If you thought you were going to get a gushing apology for the way you were dealt with, think again. You were rude and obnoxious, and hopefully this experience will teach you that you won't get by speaking to people in such a rude manner and maybe even make you a little more resilient.

Your reply says it all. Your tone just substantiates your arrogance . You run a pub and should accord a civil manner with customers who are not familiar with a regatta week procedure . Suggest that you and your staff attend... More

THE DOLPHIN Inn is quickly emerging as the place to be !. Situated on Market Street, Dartmouth, the new Dolphin has an increased light, airy and welcoming interior, following a detailed and carefully planned renovation.
Open from 11am to 11pm, Monday to Sunday, the business remains family-run with The warmest of welcomes for locals and tourists alike.
Brother-in-laws John Jones and Glenn Powell have taken great lengths to ensure that the Inn has retained the classic features of a seaside pub, but one that is laid back and chilled in the services it offer to fit a wide-range of tastes. Sections of plush leather seating add a new sophisticated look to parts of this treasured and lovingly restored pub. With Manager John Pope – aka Geoffrey Boycott – using his great persuasive skills local boatbuilders and salvage masters have donated time and pieces in an attempt to bring some real local history to the pub – big thanks to all .
As part of their ongoing push for higher standards, the pub owners have brought in a range of drinks, coinciding with the launch of a their very own brewed beer called Whaler Ale, brewed at their brewery – Bridgetown Brewery – situated on the river in the sister pub the Albert inn in Totnes.
