burger, moules fritte, lovely food, very well cooked. Children were not frowned on, and they were given crayons, reasonably prices, good modern decor. Staff very good.

Bought cod and chips from the hole in the wall chippy on the roadside. Quite simply the best batter I can recall eating, to the point where I went back to ask for the recipe. The fish itself was also lovely, flaky and meaty, freshly cooked to order. Chips were ok, they weren't cooked fresh though, I suspect they had... More

Our connection with St Mawes goes back to 1962 when we got engaged in the town, by the castle to be exact!!! We have stayed at the ship and castle, dined at he Tresanton, idle rocks, and Rising Sun.we have today found the Watch House, and what a wonderful surprise, and enjoyable dining experience. From the telephone booking to our paying... More

It was just a quick lunch visit. Fishcakes were lovely, packed with flavour and my favourite dill. But the fish pie, wow! Big chunks of fish, mussels, prawns, with full of flavour white sauce and fluffy potato topping. Lovely staff too!

Salmon salad and fish pie to follow - wonderful. I think the menu description was a bit more complicated.. but there again the menu description was not as appealing as the food that we were served. I can't pin point what is was about the sauce used in the fish pie that just made me want to order it all... More

We've just had moules with creme and twice, cooked chips which were gorgeous. The chef made my son gluten free fish and chips👍 my daughter had veggie option. All was lovely in a great comfortable restaurant. This is definitely to be recommended ! Great spot on the harbour side 👍

The Watch House was located across from where we were staying and despite the exterior we decided to have dinner. Very friendly staff and food was amazing... The chilli squid was very delicious, light and very tasty and the ribeye steak and triple cooked chips went down very well. The restaurant serves the triple cooked chips in their fish and... More

I often go to St Mawes with family, the Watchouse is usually the place of choice. Previously I have found the food ok, but rather costly for what you get. This time, I was impressed by the food and the service. I do still think it is slightly overpriced for what you get. Two bottles of Cornish sparkling wine cost... More

I ate in here all three nights of my business trip last March. Was a bit worried it would be too posh (remember the restaurant as a child where you could get great banana splits), but it was high quality without being pretentious. There waitresses worked really hard, and each evening I was made to feel at ease, which can... More
