Chose this for a light lunch option on recommendation of a family friend. No table service as you order at the counter, take your drinks with you and then your food is bought over, which is fine and seems to work quite well. I had the road beef which was tasty but the roll felt like cheap quality and went... More

I haven't visited this establishment for some time and have undergone a huge refurbishment since then. Very clean bright and open. A large selection of foods available from cup of tea and a cake to a full English breakfast. Cakes and pies/pasties etc are own baked as are the majority of cakes and bread. A very welcome refreshment stop. Polite... More

Chatwins have been renowned in Cheshire for many years and I am pleased that they are planning ahead and moving with the times in order to survive. The food is really fresh with the overall ambiance warm and inviting. Having read some of the reviews I felt as though I had to comment regarding my visit which as the title... More

I've been using Chatwin's for years as an ideal place for a rest and a well-deserved pot of tea, after a busy morning shopping. Their recent refurbishment has come as a bit of a surprise after a tradition of waitress service, and some wonderfully vintage decor. The food is still excellent, the drinks good value, and the staff are still... More

We've been for lunch in Chatwins the last couple of times we've visited Chester and would thoroughly recommend it to others. It's a lovely café in a good position in the city centre, with some seating downstairs and more upstairs. The lunch options are really good, with the hot carvery rolls particularly tasty and good value. The coffee here is... More

As a regular in another Chatwins branch, we called for mid morning hot drinks and pasties. As usual, service and food didn't disappoint - excellent coffee, lovely hot chocolate and cheese & onion and pork & apple pasties were warm, fresh and tasty. Definitely kept us going through the sales shopping. Worth calling in for a bit of a rest,... More

This is a cafe attached to a bakery in the main shopping street. The place served a good lunch comprising butties as well as the usual sandwiches, baked potatoes, soup etc. Service was quick, the quantities were generous but not excessive and the price reasonable in view of the above.

I have marked down this venue due to reasonably tough roast beef. We visited thinking we would get a carvery meal, probably didn't read the signs properly. However the problem with beef is that it can be chewy and with a fair amount of gristle it did make this carvery in a bap difficult to eat. We will visit again... More

Thank you for the review, and pleased you liked the eating area. I am disappointed to hear that the beef was tough, we pride ourselves on the quality of our product, and I will look into this matter. I am sure on your next visit that the carvery will be to our usual high standards. More

A very busy Saturday in Chester we found this fabulous little cafe with lovely home made products We opted for scones with jam and clotted cream with a pot of tea each. The scones were light and full of fruit one of the best I've had would definitely recommend.
