The food is lovely, no doubt at all. But we had a bad experience with undercooked chicken and I ended up in A&E. Whilst I cannot 100% be sure it was the take away that was to blame, as a doctor I think it is...the most likely explanation.More

This is one of our 'go to' places for a can't be bothered to cook night and fancy chinese. As usual the food was amazing - you just can't beat the price of the buffet. We normally opt for a few trays of starters and...then duck, skip the mains (I'm not a lover of them to be honest) and then onto pudding Even with not having the mains the price is still reasonableMore

Ordered a banquet for £40 to be delivered and I’ve never have such overdone food like this ever. The mains were lovely but all the starters and chips were extremely overcooked/reheated. You need a chainsaw to get through It. The slowboat huge letdown!!!

Just had our Saturday night takeaway from the Slow boat , it was so delicious. We had the duck , beef chilli curry , noodle , salt & pepper chips and a Malaysian curry and everything was amazing. Would definitely recommend, we ordered through deliveroo...and delivery was quick and the girl was nice and polite. Can’t wait for a sit down meal after lock down.More

We ordered steamed shoumei, spring rolls, prawn toast, crispy duck and sweet and sour chicken with noodles. At £28 after the 20% discount this was still very expensive especially given much of the food was inedible. The shoumei which I've had a lot of over...the years was the worst I've ever had. The filling was not the usual fragrant minced pork and prawn but instead was little chunks of barely flavoured meat that were the kind of chewy which made me suspect it might raw. I couldn't chew the meat, it was too tough and I had to just swallow it whole, yak! They came with no sauce or flavoured vinegar which for £5 was not good. I only ate 1 of the 5 balls and spat the 2nd one out as i was not enjoying the texture and flavour and feared a stomach upset. I didn't even give them the dog, they worried me that much. The prawn toast was the weirdest and worst I've ever had the displeasure of tasting. Apart from the inordinately thick prawn layer the meat tasted off. My husband, who doesn't like pork, said he could taste maybe pork sausage in the prawn which I could understand, I thought it tasted like the smell of sweaty off bacon, it was a horrible flavour. The filling was pressed down onto the bread leaving just a thin oily layer of toast instead of a crunchy compliment for the meat, while the filling was about an inch thick above it so the toast part was ruined. Again I couldn't eat this after the first bite and didn't want to give it the dog either. It was all wrong. The sweet and sour chicken (battered bite size chunks) was the first thing I tasted. I was expecting the traditional gloopy MSG sauce but not the chewy chunks of chicken and sweaty pineapple in it. As a chef I was taught to cut meat chunks the same size as they'll all cook evenly, that was not the case here. The chicken was all different sizes and most of it did not taste fresh. I had to spit this out too in the end as it was hard work to eat. The pineapple chunks in the sauce were off, no doubt about that at all, I'm a chef and have thrown loads of stale food away. The whole dish tasted off so I had to leave this too. My husband's duck was not too bad, boneless and crispy, not fresh tasting but not inedible, yay! The spring rolls tasted fresh and we're flavoursome so I ate those, yay again! The noodles were ok. There was the hint of staleness from the beansprouts but I was hungry and needed food so took the risk and ate them anyway - if I was going to be ill the dumplings already did it. I would never eat here again and wish I had been able to take the leftovers back to complain but our plans meant I couldn't. This was by far the worst Chinese food I've ever had, well done The Slow boat.More

I think this review is just rude if i am honest, as a Professional chef you said the only thing that tasted fresh was the spring rolls... well they along with the Shaomei are bought in frozen so i wonder if you need to retrain....More

Visited the Slow boat yesterday evening with my family for the full belly weekend banquet. Well, we certainly left with a full belly. Delicious food and very attentive waiting staff. Generous portions, especially the crispy aromatic duck. All Covid precautions were well observed and all...tables were nicely distanced. Would definitely recommend to anyone and would visit more often if I didn't live over 200 miles away.More
