Super local pub, friendly, warm with a good variety of real ales. Went on a Monday and had a shared platter. Was really nice and will definitely recommend. Staff were friendly and went the extra mile, even put the log burner on to make us feel warmer after a days shopping in Chester!

Friends took me for a pre Christmas lunch on Thursday. Was warm, and staff very friendly and helpful, I chose the whitebait as a starter, proved a good choice, this was followed with the ribeye steak as the main course. I like my steak rare and it was done to perfection, and a decent size too I might add. All... More

Absolutely marvelous from arrival to departure. Parked right by the main entrance at the rear. Loved the layout with a mixture of rooms to choose from. Warmly greeted by the manager we chose to sit by the welcoming log fire at the front of the inn with some equally welcoming locals. Enjoyed an excellent selection of drinks whilst choosing from... Went here last Friday for lunch with my daughter. I didn't know what to expect having heard diff opinions but I was pleasantly surprised. The manager put the fire on for us which was cosy and the food was served quickly, well presented and very tasty. Was really pleased and will be returning. Also dog friendly which is a definite... Took a friend for lunch and we both had a very nice meal and it wasn't too noisey. The landlord was welcoming and friendly.

Decided to stop by for a spot of lunch given its recently improving reviews & images of what look like decent cooking. Not exactly filled with confidence to see only 2 diners or were we too impressed with the vile stench reminiscent of an old damp abandoned property. A good clean may get more bums on seats (not rocket science)... More

Freshly prepared Sunday roast. Good meat portions and nicely prepared fresh vegetables. Washed down with some lovely real ale. What could be better on a Sunday afternoon after a walk in the Welsh countryside. Good selection of real ales available presented by a knowledgeable and friendly bar maid named Holly. Holly's pint pulling skills far exceeded her Latte making abilities... More

Description
Fabulous pub food produced in a great British, traditional, friendly and inviting surroundings. The award winning kitchen is a hive of creativity where the venue's passionate, talented, and creative Head Chef, along with the rest of the dedicated team, work their magic as they cook freshly prepared, and locally sourced meat, fish, veg and dairy products, as well as freshly baked artisan breads. The seasonally changing, modern Great British-Style menu's, are the epiphany of today's "gastro-style" pub restaurants, but along with a sense of the "home-comforts", often contain that "twist" on tradition, as well as flavours and variants on recipes from all over the World.
