My friend and I had been for a walk along the river bank on a cold, windy morning - we went into The Anchor Inn just before 12 noon with the intention of just ordering a hot drink! We then looked at the menu and decided we would have lunch there and asked if there was a table for two... More

We visited Grove Barn nearby and needed a light supper. The Anchor was handy and proved to be a lovely place to eat. Although it's more of a full restaurant (with a great menu) we only wanted something light. The solution was for the two of us to share a starter and a main course, and the restaurant was perfectly... More

We were staying at the b&b next door so hadn't realised how busy the Anchor is on a weekend evening. The maitre very kindly squeezed us in for an early sitting despite all tables being taken that evening. (Thanks - we appreciated this) The meal was excellent quality, delightfully served. We suggest that the starter served in a jar could... More

The food was fine, even though I was told that there was a set menu for Sunday's, however the service was incredibly slow and we were there for getting on for 3 hours. Not recommended/

My husband and I came here for dinner the other evening and we were impressed by the lovely old pub, its brickwork and beams. We had a lovely meal, however portions weren't very large but nevertheless delicious. Service was good, apart from one young lady who seemed to have abit of an attitude, like we were a nuisance. However the... More

Our daughter had visited the Anchor Inn with friends before Christmas and recommended the food served there. I saw an offer for a set menu deal via Travel zoo so booked our meal for family members. There were several choices for starters, main course and dessert. The only problem was which to choose! The starters arrived pretty promptly, and the... More

Can't knock the food here. Out of this world. The staff however just seemed a bit, off. Can't quite put my finger on it

I have only visited this pub once, it was on a company Xmas meal. Not greatly impressed I have to say, very old looking inside and made that way, but bordered on ramshackle rather than antiquated. I had the Steak meal, so chewy Wrigleys would have been proud, made my jaw ache gnawing through so much gristle, desert was absolute... More

Had a lovely meal with friends, we went using a Travelzoo offer which made the meal great value. We last ate here 5 years ago and hopefully it won't be as long before we visit again. Couldn't fault our choices nor quality of the food presented, piping hot, tasty and great quality. Our only suggestion was the main course had... More
