Came here for a late supper while staying overnight in Cambridge. It is a warm and inviting place with the feel of a gastro pub but the service and selection of an upmarket grill. They were very accommodating to our requests, allowing my partner to...More

We popped in hoping for a table and were rewarded with an excellent meal. We all had 'roast meals' of pork, beef or lamb and all of us were very pleased with the quantity and quality of the food. The price was also very reasonable...More

I ate here as a single diner. The service was excellent and the food prepared / delivered quickly. The Barnsley chop was cooked exactly as asked and tasted great. The only thing that let it down was the mash, which wasn't as rich and creamy...More

Every time I come here for Sunday lunch, I always consider having the roast beef or the roast pork as quite frankly they always look delicious. But when the time comes to order, I can't stop myself going for the lamb every time. It really...More

I went here with a large group after a meeting. They served us quickly and no one was kept waiting for too long while others ate. There was a good choice of food, particularly for people with gluten sensitivity (as one of our party did,...More

Saw this restaurant as I was driving through Cambridge to my hotel. Plenty of room for a table for 2 on Thursday evening. The Suet Pud special was something to die for as was the smoked mash potato. My wife had the Lamb which was...More

Late Saturday lunch in April; very nice time. I had the duck special (fab leg croquettes) and lady friend had the sirloin stake (although her "rare" was a little blue, and mademoiselle is a French carnivore!). The chips were Outstanding-best triple cook in ages. The...More

Just off the beaten track, The St. John's Chop House is a sister restaurant to The Cambridge Chop House. The restaurant is situated in a 200 year old former Almshouse. Split over 2 levels with 5 separate dining rooms it offers a wide range of dining options from an intimate meal in our Reading Room to the party sized rooms on the ground floor. Traditional British food is once again the mainstay, sourced as locally as possible, complimented by a local cask ale and an interesting wine list. Reservations are taken and recommended, especially at the weekend.
