My favourite eatery in Totterdown (and Bristol!) Delicious authentic Moroccan food. I'm vegetarian and Assilah Bistro offers a number of very tasty veggie dishes. I can thoroughly recommend the falafel starter and their olives are the best :) I usually have Dbinjah, or mixed bean tagine is my personal second choice - both absolutely delicious. Assilah has a low seating... More

This was probaly the worst experience in a resturant iv ever had. Its was so packed i had to walk over people to get out the place. The menu was quite limiting wasnt alot to chose from. As the room was so small with so many people inside it was very loud.I felt i was dinning in somones living room.The... More

Hi Kate sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your visit . We do carry 16 main courses for a small venue this is about average. As for me being rude on tripadviser well sometimes its because reviews are sometimes written by bogus reviewers or competitors who haven't actually been here but maybe a friend of a fellow bistro or... This is an atmospheric Morrocan bistro in Totterdown. Be prepared to sit on low sofas with gorgeous cushions to lean on and then tuck into a variety of delicious starters (we had excellent olives and bread) before main courses of chicken or lamb tagine, meatballs or a couple of vegetarian options. Friendly and efficient service. £2.00 corkage as it is... More

This was our first visit and we were not disappointed by the whole experience. We had a very warm welcome to this comfortable relaxed restaurant and to top it all the quality of the food was excellent. We will definitely be returning.

We had a table booked for 8.30, we arrived and were ignored for a while until the menus arrived. It's a BYO which is lucky as without the booze we'd have had a more miserable time! We ordered a range of food and the starters arrived at 9.30 and the mains arrived at 10.45! The food was lovely when it... More

Hi Anan sorry to hear you had a wait during your visit to the Bistro. Unfortunately this sometimes happens when earlier tables arrive late and causes a knock on effect on the kitchen and to other diners. And also apologies if you felt ignored when you first arrived we always take you to your table and bring wine glasses to... More

This is one of a few visits I've made to Assilah. The food is always delicious and my friends from Scotland, Newcastle & the midlands loved it too. So glad cards are now accepted!

Newly refurbished and reopened this is a definite find in an area short of authentic ethnic foods, this one is for 'Moroccan/Med Cuisine'. Bring your own wine, glasses willingly provided by Bridget-Ann. Low tiled tables, lots of cushions and a great atmosphere.Unobtrusive music I enjoyed an excellent tagine baked by Jack in the kitchen behind the main eating area whilst... More

I was welcomed by the cheery lady owner who chatted informatively about the menu items. I had sardines which were the best I have ever tasted, with just the right amount of crispness and superb flavours, followed by the Lamb Tagine which was served hot and was excellent soul food. The man of the house (the resident chef) came out... More

My daughter & I chanced upon this little oasis of North Africa and were not disappointed. We were welcomed by Bridget, the owner whose husband ( I think ) is the chef. Newly refurbished after a few weeks closure, the restaurant was quiet as it's regulars hadn't realised that it is now open again. The restaurant is unlicensed but customers... More

We arrived before opening time (7.00pm), but were happily allowed in, and given drinks, despite the chef not being there the food was great, and piping hot, though it did take a while to come, but this was because it was actually freshly produced, which was clear from the taste & quality. When we were leaving the manager very kindly... More

We are a family run authentic moroccan bistro on the wells road between totter down and knowle. Established 14 years ago we operate on a B.Y.O basis allowing the customer to bring the tipple of their choice. We use traditional moroccan recipes from tagines to meshwi and relax in the moroccan bedouin seating or the more traditional bistro seating. We can cater for large groups and belly dancing can be arranged. So come and enjoy a taste of morocco in Bristol. AS WITH ALL TRADITIONAL MOROCCAN RECIPES TAGINES DO TAKE A WHILE TO COOK SO WE WOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED FAST FOOD
