Had not eaten here before but spotted on a previous visit. Food is as I perceive to be more authentic than run of the mill 'curry house' fare - lovely though that can be. Clearly very popular with locals. Not vast portions but a small/substantial amount of each element of the meal - end result well satisfied and full (not... More

Wow. What a great find in Bristol. The staff are what you would expect for somewhere in Bristol, Super duper cool. I am a veggie so it was comforting to have a nice selection of foods that I could actually enjoy. Be wary however if you are not a fan of spice, because your mouth will go numb after a... More

In general I'm not a fan of curry houses in the U.K. Food is generally heavy and uninspiring; not so Thali cafe. On entering I could immediately smell freshly prepared herbs and spices- instantly inviting. The food was quite excellent: bursting with flavour and nicely presented in metal dishes. I appreciated having the mixture of dishes which combined flavours and... More

I've eaten at Thali Cafe in Clifton on many occasions and it is always consistently good. I really like the Thalis and how you can experience a number of dishes in one. The decor of the restaurant is really unique and it's one of the best curry restaurants in Bristol.

Small but good variety of meals offered. All good portions and tasty with right balance of spices. Friendly but got a bit noisy at one point downstairs.

We had a wonderful valentines dinner here. The venue, food and service were faultless. M. Thali Cafe is a must if you like Indian food. My only warning is that the old church chairs are not that comfortable - but that is a small price to pay for great food at a very good price. Loved it all - thanks.

A western twist on southern Indian food in fantastic surroundings. Portions great and some interesting starters too. Good BBF beer available too. Overall very impressed. £48 for two, including two starters, poppadoms & pickles, a main each, plus paratha and drinks.

Went for lunch with fiends. Empty resturant one waiter. The food ordered by all of us was cold. The yellow dal in the thali was burned. I had the buttermilk chicken supposedly Badamian recipe, well I am sure who ever came up with that terrible concoction has never tasted the original. On top of that it was cold served on... More
