Popped into here for a quick bite last Saturday. The bar was poorly stocked with non-alcoholic drinks, got my third choice (they didn't even have blackcurrant cordial). We didn't want a full meal so opted for the bubble & squeak with poached duck eggs. Small portion, pretty tasteless & under-cooked eggs. Considering; the views I have heard from others &... More

Yorkshire pudding cold & burnt Gravy watery Expected roast but was a piece of steak Veg slightly beyond al dente Roast potatoes are normally always a let down eating out but were EXCELLENT Service, very good A lot of theatrics with the wooden platter but didn't deliver on quality or quantity!

Met with some friends and stayed for cocktails, more cocktails, great bar food and to toast ourselves warm by the log fire. The atmosphere was chilled and friendly with a good mix of ages and plenty of space to stretch and make yourself at home.

My husband and I visited the Rummer yesterday for lunch. I had Bubble and squeak with poached duck eggs. Surprisingly the bubble (or was it the squeak) was PURPLE! Amazing! The eggs were perfect. The yolks were such a bright yellowly orange colour. Gorgeous. Hubby had the Pork belly with pically sandwich. We shared a bowl of chunky huge fried... More

Booked a table for Friday night. Place was empty except for two others. That should have been a warning. We chose the five course menu with the 'drinks flight'. I didn't enjoy a single course. The cold rabbit with puréed spinach was revolting. The quail was dry and hard. I love salted caramel but the salted lemon dish was disgusting.... More

Me and my husband visited the Rummer for Sunday lunch last week. I was really looking forward to it after our last visit a few years back. I was disappointed to say the least. My mushroom tart for starters was quite dry and the chewy beef roast came out with pretty much, raw vegetables. My husband had the lamb (which... More

Visited for a family celebration. Great cocktails in the bar but the restaurant was disappointing. We were the only dinners on Friday evening and the tasting menu didn't live up to expectations. Food was dull.

My wife and I visited The Rummer's Cellar Dining Room to celebrate her birthday. This was a real treat for us - although we eat out fairly regularly, it was certainly a step up from our usual venues. The service was intimate without being overwhelming. We chose the seven course tasting menu with accompanying 'drinks flight' (a different drink with... More

Went to The Rummer hotel for my brother's wedding reception last week. Couldn't fault anything, it was all perfect. No draft beers, but don't let that put you off, the range of bottled beers is extensive, as is the plentiful selection of spirits and wines. Lovely location in the old city, right next to St Nicholas Market. Gemma who runs... More
