As a couple we have visited some of the best curry houses some of which are in Birmingham but we visited this place before a night out in Bristol & we can say confidently this is the best Indian food we have ever had. The staff are brilliant in promoting the street food menu and with good reason we have never tasted such amazing indian cuisine. We are not a couple that take pictures of every meal we have and I wish I did on this occasion Keep up the good work! We shall 100% visit again.

We were looking for a suitable pre-Bristol hippodrome restaurant. This fitted the bill precisely, short walking distance (2 mins), excellent food. As they advertise their food as representing Indian street food it was served quickly and efficiently, but with no pressure that we should leave our table quickly. Relaxed, friendly and efficient, but with no rush. We will certainly use this restaurant again when we next visit the Bristol Hippodrome. I had the Lamb Birani Bowl, very good serving, well-seasoned but relatively mild, no need to order additional rice etc (but order the onion bhajis they are to die for – they come in pairs and are excellent!). My wife is half Indian and the food served was totally reminiscent of the experience we recall from business and family visits to India.

Found this on TA and all the reviews were good so we booked a table. We were glad we did as the restaurant was full when we arrived and we had to wait a short while for our table but it was no major issue. What s great meal our waiter was great going that extra bit and I can recommend Chettinad Chicken and Butter Chicken the mushroom rice was excellent to not greasy at all as some can be. Well worth the visit we will be back for sure.

We stumbled across this so called fusion curry house as everywhere else was fully booked on Friday night during Covid crisis. Tables were far too close together for safety at this time and we almost left there and then. Menu was very limited and no saag aloo or aloo gobi in sight . The main currys were very tasty and of an average size. Naan was very thin. Draft Cobra @ £4.50 per pint. Gin & tonic @ £5.75 Service was good, but very cheeky to automatically add 10% service charge!

A few work colleagues and I called in here for dinner after a recommendation. There was a split menu but we asked for a mixed spread of street food The guys looked after us well and we had a fantastic variety of foods. Most were similar dishes to thing we had tried before but they were all delicious. The restaurant was really busy and in a great location. Thanks guys

I am usually disappointed when eating Indian out these days but thought we’d give it a go as reviews were good. Despite what some reviews said, we had no trouble with our reservation on a busy Saturday evening. It’s very small so booking is recommended. The starters were a bit so so but I was very impressed by the main curries which all five of us enjoyed. Spicy, not too hot and no after effects. The rices were fragrant and well cooked and the chapattis were almost as good as homemade. I’d definitely return next time I’m in Bristol.

This restaurant is home to amazing food, drinks and staff. The puri was unlike anything I’ve ever had before- the flavours were so beautiful and our waiter (sorry I didn’t catch your name) showed me how eat it properly! I would really recommend this restaurant- great selection of unique food and fab prices. Thank you!

Great meal, really quick service, lovely staff, and a really original menu and great tasting food. It's a busy 'cafe style' place which creates a great buzzy atmosphere, there are some really interesting options on the menu, which is based on street food. You can also have more traditional Indian dishes if you prefer. We loved it - starters, mains, rice, breads and five pints of Cobra came to £88 - which seemed excellent value. Right in the heart of the old part of the City Centre so lots of options on pubs/bars nearby as well.

We were visiting Bristol for the weekend and with loads of restaurants it was hard to pick one but we were glad we went for Dhamaka as the food was AMAZING! We ordered for the street food menu (Think of it like Indian Tapas) and it was delicious. Nothing too unusual and absolutely delicious. They do an early bird deal which is great value - £11.99 for 3 dishes and that’s definitely enough for one person (with some extra poppadoms of course!) Please give this place a try - you won’t regret it! You might want to book as we struck lucky for a Saturday evening.

The food here is delicious! We ordered lots of small plates and were impressed with them all. The menu has a varied selection for vegetarian and vegans. Staff were really friendly and attentive, and the cocktails were very tasty too. We ate a little early so qualified for an early bird deal and 2 for 1 on the cocktails, which made the meal such good value for money! I would certainly recommend Dhamaka to everyone, especially veggies and vegans!

Perfect evening with friends, the food, menu and service was excellent. Everything was cooked beautifully and extremely tasty, full of flavour and it was great that my newby to Indian food had any dish explained. Everyone who worked at the restaurant was really friendly and efficient, Well worth a visit, will be there again in a few weeks.

We were so surprised by how tasty & delicious our food was at Dhamaka! We’ve never had Indian street food before & the waiter was really helpful suggesting dishes that would go well together. We’re veggies so only ordered vegetarian dishes like pani puri but honestly haven’t tasted food like that before & each dish had its own delicious flavour. We’ll definitely be going back & can’t recommend enough.

Perhaps the best place in Bristol for vegan Indian food. Really recommend it, the menu is clearly marked for vegan, gluten free and vegetarian options too. Even on the drinks menu vegan options are clearly labelled. Staff are super friendly and knowledgeable and food is authentic. My friend is a meat-eater and did not miss meat when we shared vegan options. Couldn't recommend more highly. I went during summer 2020 and felt COVID19 safe. There was good social distancing, staff was wearing visors and tables were wiped and cleaned regularly and thoroughly. I was a bit worried going to dine out but felt absolutely fine.

What a find! Such a different take on Indian food than the standard, emphasis on Indian street food. Quite a basic place but that added to the atmosphere 😊. Lots of gluten free options for a coeliac (I could even have the onion bhaji), staff very knowledgeable and would suggest dishes that complemented eachother. Highly recommended x

We had the good fortune to experience this place back before lockdown. This was first visit back and we were not disappointed. Before booking we asked about the COVID precautions and we were given a full list of them all very professional which was good to see in practice. The service and food as before was exceptional. This is one of the best Indian restaurants you can go to. All the food looks and smells great but we can recommend two of the house specials, the butter chicken and chettinad chicken well worth a go. We would throughly recommend giving this restaurant a go you will not be disappointed.
