Delightful overnight visit with friends & my dog. Very friendly & helpful staff but in no way intrusive. The menu was small but the food delicious. Would love to return sometime .... soon!

Staying nearby and the Black Swan was recommended for an evening meal. Salmon Mousse was outstanding and then shared Beef Bourginon with a Portuguese Red. Great pub and food.

An enjoyable evening spent with friends in a private dining room and the most delicious food. The service was excellent, the food served with a smile and arrived hot and at the same time - not always the case when eating as part of a large party. The fish pie was delicious and served unusually with tasty beetroot. The cheese... More

Dinner on Sunday night, travelling back to Scotland from London and overnighting at Brownber Hall. Same price as a highly indifferent lunch in town two days prior. Imaginative menu, beautifully prepared, wonderful to eat. Not to be missed. Go out of your way to eat here.

Visited the Black Swan from a recommendation of the guest house we were staying at Brownber Hall . Its a quintessential English pub , cosy rooms , wooden beams , log fire and a good all round feeling . The menu was refined , as the food was all fresh , you would expect this , so don't go looking... More

This is absolutely one of our favourite places to stay. We received a very warm welcome from Selina on arrival, whose team then took good care of us throughout our stay. Having noted the arrival of a new chef, last year, we were slightly apprehensive but need not have feared. The food is wonderful, imaginative and well thought through with... More

Went here for Sunday Lunch on Sunday 29th, was the best Sunday Lunch I have ever ever had out, the food was to die for. The rare roast beef was tender the veg was tasty and catered to my needs as I have special requirements. I asked for some beef to take for my dog which was supplied and only... More

with 1 day left of a great holiday we found this place . ate out every night and never had a bad 1 but this stood out head and shoulders . Walked in at lunchtime into one of the nicest interiors I've seen . Having spent 6 years as an investment manager for a major brewery i've seen it done... More

We arrived at the venue for a family members birthday, 14 people in total. We were shown to a small private area that looked lovely if you were there for drinks and snacks but to be expected to have a sit down meal whilst hunched over small bar tables sitting on stools wasn't exactly the family meal we had imagined.... There are times when an apology is due, we don't always get things right, but we do try very hard! In this case we owe no apology. This lady made a mistake with her reservation and booked the lounge. She can deny it, but it is a fact - she even visited for lunch the previous day, so knew exactly... More

Lovely location, pub and service. Inconsistent food. Kitchen needs tightening up - one meal (pork) was done very well, but the fish pie was just microwaved/reheated/overcooked mush. Perfect if you'd forgotten your teeth I suppose. And tastebuds. If we'd chosen something else, might have been a 4 rating, but this kind of unreliable & inconsistent cooking means we won't eat...
