On route from Hadrian's Wall to Edinburgh we discovered this gem. Friendly staff, excellent food and drinks. We stopped for lunch and we weren't disappointed... The seniors menu was ideal for the older members of our party and their children's menu was great for our 7 year old. I had the Beef roast and the Yorkshire pudding was perfection.... We... More

Stopped by for a roast lunch whilst in the area on business. Warm and friendly greeting was much appreciated, good service and a perfectly reasonable wait for my meal to be served, which was delicious. Generous portions, particularly vegetables which so many restaurants seem to skimp on these days. Highly recommended if you fancy a good meal in a classic... More

Place is lovely and service and wolderful but food was on the limit. We order lasagne the was below consider good and a fish & chips that for my standard of Newcastle was over cooked but fish really taste well but buttered was more than good. Chips was OK. I'll provide a second opportunity soon because service and place was... More

From the moment we entered the bar and were warmly greeted by the landlord, we knew we had stopped at the right place. This is a quintessentially English pub and comes complete with garden leading down through a gate to the River Rede. On a sunny Sunday it is pretty close to heaven. I can heartily recommend the food, particularly... More

We ate here last week and had a very nice meal in a lovely olde worlde setting. The pub was quiet with just a few locals in. The beer and wines were very nice with a nice selection, the menu was varied and I had the house special of lamb which was very rich and nice. Great little place to... More

Staying for a few days in a holiday cottage at Otterburn and looking for somewhere to have a nice meal on the Sunday. The Bay Horse was one of the recommended places to eat on the welcome pack in our cottage. After a day visiting Hadrian's Wall we decided to stop for a meal on the way back. As we... More
