Very high quality ingredients, impressive wine selection with great expertise on wines from the region. These folks do it well. The drive from Tuchan is spectacular, but driving home after dark was pretty hairy. Note to self: next time come for lunch.

We came to this restaurant under the recommendation of a couple of great wineries who told us about a great wine list. And it didn't disappoint! Wow.. What a list of natural wines! And the pricing is great too.. You pay winery price plus a...corkage. Crazy. And when a restaurant has such selection of natural wine, you know the food is going to be good in as much as there's going to be great respect to the base produce, environment and so on. This was true at El Silex too. Again the pricing is unbelievably affordable: €18.50 for 3 courses! Why aren't there more restaurants like this? Thierry, when are you opening something in London?More

Simple menu but excellent food. Worth a stop if you are visiting the surroundings. Ingredients are fresh and the dishes well elaborated. I recommend to go for the 3 courses menu as it allows to enjoy various flavours

We came here at the busy lunch time. We had to wait fairly long before our order was taken. Waitress was super nice and friendly and explained everything very well. Kids took children menu and they were very happy with their lunch (beed and fries,...and icecream). We adults took menu with a starter and main. Food was fresh and well maid, it was probably best tuna I've ever eaten. Although we had to wait the food a bit, it was so tasty and worth of waiting for.More

We arrived in Tautavel on Saturday while searching a restaurant. IT was amazing to see that a lot of restaurants were closed this afternoon. IT was even more amazing to see the number of people looking for a restaurant. We asked the waitress whether we...could be leaving within an hour and she confirmend that this was possible if we took the daily menue. We stayed and we took the carn de parry en salade, the grilled tuna followed by the pana cotta with coulis de mangue. The starter was simple but the taste was ok. The tuna was outstanding and we also loved the pana cotta. The service was very good and we felt sorry for the waitress who had to walk in the rain when she had to boring the dishes back to the kitchen. We highly recommend this restaurant. The menu at € 19,50 is also very reasonable.More

We were two people and we arrived at 0:40pm and the food got served at 2:10pm. We could not stand to wait so long. One of the dish was veal saute with mushrooms but the meat was hardly hot and well cooked, and there was...almost no mushrooms. The second dish was porc rib but way to salty. The wine was delicious. Overall we had to pay 86 euros ! I let you judge, overall they service is not constant and they use their reputation so think twice before you get in ! There were only one person serving all the customers, unbelievable and only one cook chef.

My husband and I were walking the Tautavel village, stopped at the Gorges and decided to have something to eat. We were early but the Patron/Chef who was getting the tables ready invited us in to sit down and have a drink while waiting for...the kitchen to get ready. Great starter and main course for both of us, I had fish which was well cooked. My husband's chocolate desert was divine unfortunately my Rum Babka was a bit dry and not fresh. That was the only thing otherwise the wine was flowing and atmosphere and service was great. Loved it and will go back againMore

I took my sisters and friend to this restaurant where we have had many good meals in the past. It was full, and it was hot! Service was good, in the circumstance. Everyone except me ordered the entrecote, and none of them managed to chew...the meat. It was either handed back uneaten, or half chewed....but no apology or explanationwas offered. The full 23 euro for each staek was charged. We left utterly dissatisfied. Will not be returning anytime soon...More

Firstly, at €19.90 for a 3-course lunch (without wine) in France this is excellent value. Wines have a standard €6 markup in what they say is the price from the producer, which is very reasonable. In Spain (where wine is included) I would have been...less happy with the value. The ambience is a bit scruffy - nothing stylish nor alternatively quaint - boxes everywhere; untidy. We stood around for an age waiting to be seated while a single couple was being served. So we sat ourselves down and were promptly redirected to another table. Menu arrived promptly and then another long wait before the food and wine orders were taken. Another long wait (still only 1 other couple) for the wine to arrive. From then on everything went smoothly. For the price the dishes were inventive / non-standard (as opposed to many in rural Catalunya), and all were well cooked and presented. If you focus only on food quality and nothing on service and ambience, Silex is top notch.More
