Always such a pleasant experience to eat at this restaurant! The food is outstanding with the creative creative presentations . The service is excellent and very attentive, and the decor is elegant and chic but without being pretentious The best part is that you can...bring your wine and beverage ! A little hidden gem in the country side of Bromont. I highly recommend!More

Back to the Gourmet for our 25th anniversary. On a special occasion like this, you must be sure of the location or else it's the dog house...Once again, the Gourmet did not disappoint us. The ambiance is second to none and the food was spectacular!...I recommend the short rib. It was so tender. Did not use my knife other than to pick up the last drop of sauce on the plate! This is a must try location in Bromont. Cozy and peaceful, it's the perfect setting for a romantic dinner. The bring your own wine format makes it interesting as well. Be sure to reserve.More

We were a huge group of 38 people. The restaurant was suppose to close the day before. They stayed open for our large group. Ml We were able to bring our own wine...awesome! The chef started with a deliciously moist muffin. Followed by a sweet...corn soup. We tried the escargot (2yrs ago they were superb) a little disappointed. They were in the bottom of the cup in a brown sauce covered by bread. There was very little seasoning (garlic). They were good but not what I expected. If I would have seen the presentation of the assortment of apps I would have went with that 6 different types of appetizers. The shrimp pie was delicious and a beautiful presentation!! The duck dinner did not disappoint!! The duck was cooked beautifully!! It was so moist, tender and juicy. The cherry sauce complements the duck beyond words. The filet mignon was awesome! Probably by far one of the best filets my husband has ever eaten. Dessert was a medley of creme brulee, chocolate mousse and lemon meringue tartlet. Each and everyone made my mouth happy, happy, happy!! The serving of the food was not spot on. I think they cooked by dish not by table. Food walked around the room a few times trying to find it's owner. You can let the little issues go because everything was delicious. Kudos to our servers they did a very good job with 38+ people.More

all and intimate restaurant in a private house setting but wit a gorgeous, warm and welcoming decor. I chose this place since it's a BYOB and we had some special bottles waiting to be opened. In term of flavors there was some big hits and...big misses. The amuse bouche was a small permumed cupcake in a very festive party paper molds. It was kind of a joke, really. Hard, unflavorful, looking ridiculous. For the entrees, I took the tasting plateau which is basically a small, bite sized, portion of every entree option on the menu. The idea seemed completely genius at first, but I felt it was badly executed. It was a weird mix of flavors from chewy fried calamari to a weird sweet-spiced foie gras creme brulee. I did liked the grilled snails one but it was nothing close the the full plate in terms of complexity and flavors. The biggest hit was my main course. I took the beef cheeks which were to die for!!!! Amazing! It's worth trying the place just for that. The dessert were also very satisfying with three different tasting desserts. Overall way too expensive for what it is.More

Love this restaurant. It’s my go to place to celebrate birthdays etc. The ambience is terrific. Take your time, you don’t want to rush the meal. The menu changes rarely which my husband is not too happy with but he has thoroughly enjoyed everything on...it, multiple times.More

I find it funny when people write reviews for, say, a bar - pub and give it 5 stars ... that's the general problem with Trip Advisor and other sites... that different levels of establishments get the same ratings and then the reader must read...the review with a "grain of salt"... recognizing the level of place the review is about. In the case of Le Gourmet, we are talking about a higher level of restaurant for this region and when someone gives it 4 stars, as I did, we are not comparing it to, say, a bistro pub with 4 stars. We are comparing it to similar "gourmet" restaurants whose culinary objective is to present the opportunity for diners to participate in a place that has a kind of romantic atmosphere, decor, and an expectation that the plate offerings will be a "cut above". Le Gourmet offers a tranquil, relaxed room, including a grand piano, fireplace, and tables set the right distance apart to have a private-ish conversation. Again, the region around Bromont-Cowansville stretches from blue collar to tourist, and there are not the numbers of recognized places as in the City. So each one including Le Gourmet, is setting its own path with not quite the gastronomic competition that might exist elsewhere. Why does this matter ? Well, it basically means that some of these higher level places tend to slack off a bit because there isn't anyone down the block, road, or for some distance, that's biting at their taste buds. So, here's the grain of salt again, there always tends to be good things about a place, and then some not so good. For Le Gourmet, I gave it 4 stars, based not on comparing it to a Montreal equivalent, but rather for this region, for a decent Gourmet culinary attempt, and relative to other similar places scattered far and wide in this region. I love BYOB places as well because: a) it gives more people the ability to dine here and partake in the chef's creative offerings. And b) the owners can concentrate more on their food goals and philosophy, and less on creating a necessary cellar. So... Le Gourmet, cheesy name aside, has become known, in this region, as a place to get to. It has become known as a kitchen that has a chef that is on the creative side of the road, although without being astonishing. The offerings can't be found everywhere but neither do they appear to lead to people asking if the chef trained in Europe. Solid fare, cooked the way we asked, and relatively tasty. Presentations were nice, and the wait staff were pleasant enough if a bit erratic. For example one waiter got us settled, and then asked if we were ready to order... but when I said we were not quite, and would like to study the offerings a bit, and could we have the petit pain first, he said that that would be coming soon... we had already been there 25 minutes... so I felt the "settling in" process was a bit confused. Another waitress eventually showed up with the bread, and unfortunately rock hard prepackaged butter pats. Nevertheless, the salad, soup and appetizers showed up in timed sequences that were not rushed. This restaurant, as mentioned, has a nice enough atmosphere for intimate conversation, and the course timings demand it. The filet of beef was nicely done, but when got to the dessert there was only one offering, the chef's gourmande. 3 mini desserts, chocolate, cream and creme brule. A lot of restaurants feel they still need to offer creme brule although it's now kind of..... staid. I enjoyed my evening, despite the slightly disjointed service. I would go back, if only because this type of place is not easy to find among the Tim Hortons and East Side Marios that cater to 90% of diners of this region. As well, I do think the chef is trying, but he has no input to the room itself, the staff, etc all of which is likely the domain of the owners.More

Limited table d'hote menu with prices around $48 per person excluding approximately 15% tax and $3 coffee. Soup of the day, asparagus and leek tasted weak and full of water. Escargot with risotto and mushrooms was excellent. I found it quite odd that the next...course served was the frites which were an additional $4. The mayonnaise was excellent but the fries were soggy and I would skip them next time. The main course of rack of lamb was next and it was huge, 4 chops. The crumb coating was a soggy tasteless mess. The dessert of a small trio of crème brulee and two other delicious pastries made us all forget our diets and we did not regret it as they were delicious. It is a bring your own bottle restaurant that made the price more palatable. The restaurant is only open Thursday to Sunday and reservations are required for Saturday. It was a busy Saturday night when we were there and it was quite noisy and difficult to carry on a private conversation. I might try this place again but maybe on a Thursday next time and pass on the fries. The parking lot is very dark and easy to stumble over the uneven ground, even before dinner and wine! There is a large room near the entrance for a big group or event.More

We went to Le Gourmet with good friends to celebrate a few great life events and were quite surprised by our overall experience. We had heard great things and were looking forward to experiencing an apparently great restaurant. The restaurant was quite busy with two...large groups, we were immediately told by the owner that we had to order right away to avoid the rush in the kitchen. We had not quite had time to look at the menu yet, but she insisted and stood there, waiting for us to order. So much for taking your time on a Saturday night. We were basically left alone for the rest of the night- no service person in sight except to dump plates on our table as they came out of the kitchen. We had to chase down service staff to open our bottles of wine (its a bring your own wine restaurant), we served our own wine, ran out of water. Staff never checked on us to make sure we had all we needed, we never saw the owner again. Dirty plates were left in front of us until the next course was brought. Being taken care of would have been really nice. The food was very good but clearly overshadowed by terrible, terrible service. This could have become a regular, we go out for diner every Saturday and sometimes prefer to stay around instead of going to Montreal (we are locals). Clearly, Le Gourmet is now off our list. No matter how good the food is, it can never justifies such a flagrant lack of service. Too bad.More

Celebrating a friend's birthday last night, our party of 4 decided to try Le Gourmet, in Bromont. There was a fixed 5 course Valentine's Day menu for 60$ with your choice of cornish hen, salmon, or surf and turf as a main course. It was...beyond delicious to the palate and the eyes - among my best meals ever. We reserved weeks in advance and had a lovely and spacious table for 6. 'Des petites boucheés' were romantically offered in double on a lovely serving tray that one would find in a British tea room. My spouse doesn't eat seafood and they simply made substitutions for her. The bring your-own-wine formula was greatly appreciated - without a corking fee. The service was precisely what this type of slow food requires. You mustn't be in a hurry or you will be disappointed. From a 7:30 arrival, our diner lasted 4 hours. Had the chance to converse with the owner, Louise Sylvestre, as the evening slowed down. Very pleasant exchange that gave us some background on her soon to be 25 year old restaurant now located in Bromont and co-owned with her chef-husband. The atmosphere was quaint and cozy. A true gem! We will most definitely be back.More

I'm a local, and, being that I live within a ten minute drive, Le Gourmet is always a consideration when there is a special occasion meal to plan for. Given that there are only so many special occasions in a given year, I've been four...or five times within the last year or so. With that said, I've consistently been pleased with my outing each time. All meals are in a table d'hôte format: a potage, chef's surprise, choice of appetizer and main meals, followed by dessert and coffee. All the dishes have been very tasty and the plates nicely presented. Nice choice of main meals - usually a version of beef, fish, pork, and lamb are available, sometimes with a wild game choice too. However, the menu choices don't change often, as I saw last year, when I had the good luck to dine there two weekends in a row. Given the choices available and the quality of the food, I find the prices to be very fair. A definite advantage here, from a price point of view, is the 'bring your own wine feature'. The dining room is nicely decorated, with a warm elegant-country atmosphere and it is a pleasure sitting near the fireplace on a cold winter evening. The meal service is well timed - neither rushed nor too slow - proficient would be the best way to describe it. If you are looking for a big friendly welcome, or pleasant interaction with the staff, however, you have come to the wrong place. In my experience, the service, both at the table and the arrival area, although never particularly rude, tends to be 'coldish'...polite indifference, perhaps describes it best. . But, it's a place that I'm comfortable bringing guests to and referring friends to...nice decor and fine food.More

Excellent restaurant ... We were a group of 8 staying in Bromont for the weekend. We lucked out both in finding this gem and that they had room for us. A definite WOW .. food was all excellent. We went on a Saturday night ,...menu seemed to be only table hote but all servings were excellent ...everyone in the group enjoyed the soup, their appetizers, main dish. We were then served a wonderful dessert that was too good to pass up. Will be planning a return trip to this restaurant.More
