How the good ratings? My wife and I had dinner on Sunday night. The food was crazy uneatable. Raw green beans?Raw scallops with under cooked risotto. Spaghetti made from celery root. Really far out cooking that I don't believe Anthony Bourdain would eat, if still...alive. Is this a different owner/chef than a few years ago? Even the wines we tried were poor. Would give them zero stars if possible. Wife would give the minus stars.More

Had to talk about this restaurant we stopped by on the way to the eastern townships. We were excited to try the tasting menu, but upon arrival were told today’s tasting menu featured an elk tartar (ok…) as an appetizer and a blood pudding (no...thanks…) for a main. They lost us at the blood pudding. So we ordered off the menu. Highlights: driving and wine pairings were not in the cards for me anyways and I had a pine kombucha. Highly recommend! We liked it so much, we ordered a second. The octopus was very good (if not a touch undercooked). The slaw purée was tasteless but the marinated onions were a great complement. Lowlights: the waiter was happy to explain to me when pressed that the “boeuf” (as it is simply seen on the menu) was a contre-filet (aka strip loin) that had been aged 90 days. I am pretty sure the average Quebecer has no idea what beef he is eating and what cut it is. Sadly, I am not your average Quebecer. This was the toughest piece of steak we had ever sunk teeth into. This was, at best, a sirloin and likely a bad flank steak. The accompaniments were very good but over a half the steak sat happily uneaten on the plate. No question from our waiter about the cut when we were done. I think he knew we called his bluff. False advertising? Perhaps not on the menu “boeuf” can mean many things, but after the description from the waiter, a swindle to be certain. The carrot risotto was highly acclaimed by other reviewers so we were pumped to give it a try. Think of a few pieces of Arborio rice swimming in a sea of velveeta cheese. With some interesting hard chunks and enoki mushrooms that made it almost edible. I was so hungry that I finished it for my wife. Oops. Should have thought about later. All told, $120 for a shoe-leather piece of meat that should have been aged a few more years in vinegar to loosen up the muscles that bounced like a bouncy ball off my teeth, a risotto cheese soup and some fine kombucha and octopus to start. Had dinner at the bar which turned out to be a great location to watch the staff interact while preparing meals. We two shared the five course testing platter which was absolutely delicious, well presented. We had PEI oysters to start the meal and an...outstanding local rosé from Dunham. The service was impeccable by a waiter who knew how to make you comfortable and was well informed. This is definitely a must go to when in Bromont but you do need a reservation.More

Dropped in no reservation- got table with 45 minute timing - great food - Doré with mushrooms and corn puré I had blood sausage and kidneys and beets Great service and ambiance Highly recommend

We were 4, 2 chose the wine parring with the 5-course meal and the other 2 items from the menu. The presentation on all plates and explanation fromserver were excellent. The food was tasty. The wine parrings were a bit disappointing but the value for...it was good. There was no rush to be served and gone - something we all 4 appreciated.More

We went on a Saturday night for birthday celebrations (3) and had a reservation, which I highly recommend because it is a popular location and I saw many couples turned away due to a full restaurant. It is not an in-and-out kind of visit, so...people stay a while! We had a delicious orange wine, which was suggested to us by the sommelier who gave detailed explanations. I love an educational moment! Then most of us had the tasting menu + wine pairings, which was enjoyed by all. The boar and the beets were the most popular dishes of the table, they were amazing! Honestly, it was all amazing and perfectly paced. Our waitress gave us great service too. She picked up on it being the birthday of 3 people at the table, without any specific request from us (although we did make at least one comment about 1 birthday), and she brought desserts with candles. What a beautiful attention to detail!More

Excellent food! The carrot risotto was to die for. Staff was super friendly and the place was busy. Portions were large and I will certainly go back again.

This was our last stop for a meal at the end of a two week culinary ride through Quebec. Not only did we not have a bad meal on our journey, every meal we had was exceedingly good. But the lunch at Chardo was tops....Coming off a pretty good lunch the previous day at the Chateau Frontenac. But not just the food. Our waitress - who is also a proprietor - was so kind. Rarely do we get to say that these days. Alone she was serving no less than 20 guests. And everyone in the place seemed to soak up her vibe. We were five people, each selecting different items from the menu, and we were all in agreement, that this was the best restaurant on our journey. AND, we asked about the nodding bird on the bar. We got the full demo at our table.More

We spontaneously went to this restaurant initially the only guests on this Saturday mid day. Finally a few others joined. Very nice attentive service delicious soup and bison dish enjoyed by all. Highly recommended.

In an elegant room with a very attentive staff the chef Anthony Mesko offers a beautiful and inventive cuisine. He is very creative using excellent products and choosing quality. A fantastic meal on a long weekend in August. Exceptional meal with a lovely wine pairing picked by a knowledgeable and friendly staff. Choices include black pudding and heart of grouse - a great choice for the more adventurous dinner guest.
