We went for dinner- the buffet dinner. Options very limited for the price. Every table had dirty plates on them still from other customers who had dined already. Food was okay, the chicken balls were the highlight. Service was friendly, only two people appeared to...be working. Overall we probably won’t visit again.More

*Passing thru, not local...ordered take-out online. It was simply awful. Ordered Chicken fried rice, all white meat, no onions. Got that, but there were no other "typical" veggies (diced carrots, peas, sprouts, etc). Meat was VERY dry and the rice was meh. Also ordered an...egg roll - also meh, and fried wantons with cream cheese... There was little more than a teaspoon (like, barely any) cream cheese in each of the wantons - we cracked each one open; combining all the little dabs of cream cheese would have been just enough for one wonton. The wontons were very thick and greasy. Absolutely NOT worth $14.More

Placed separate take-out orders for 9 people. Each order came in its own bag and each order was labelled and correct. The food was good and the quantity was more than sufficient and well priced. Courteous and friendly. No complaints from this customer.

Wonder experience. Middle of COVID and these owners came through for us. 24 people ate buffet, which I might add was fabulous. The restaurant brought in extra help from the community to serve us. Class act, we appreciated your efforts…. And we will be back....Stay safe.More

It was good but not great. We donned in but I think it's much better for take out. A bit on the expensive side but ok.

Review of a September 2019 Buffet Dinner at House of Dragon Chinese Restaurant, 790 King St E, Gananoque, ON K7G 1H3 Described on the internet as “A plentiful Chinese menu & a nightly all-you-can-eat buffet are offered at this simple restaurant.” It lives up to...this statement. We went for the buffet as promoted and found it acceptable, but far from distinguished, and there were a few disturbing qualities. Some items were overcooked/warmed too long, such as the egg rolls, which were hard and the filling mushy, while some of the cooked broccoli had turned grey. The salad bar was mostly fresh, but very limited, and did not seem to include local seasonal produce. The tossed salad was simply iceberg lettuce and tomatoes that hadn’t seen the vine for some time, large cut cucumbers were in a separate dish, and the potato salad was rancid (staff were told discretely, but did not remove it). There was a nice inclusion of a refreshing seaweed salad, and condiments of pickled ginger and wasabi on offer. Salad dressings were commercially produced (including Thousand Islands). One type of sushi was included – crab. There was a kind of make your own soup option with meat broth, meat filled dumplings and chopped scallions (green onions) that could be added. The hot buffet selection focussed mainly on meat and fish – with many things in a batter covering. For the most part it was tasty but very left little for vegetarians, and even less for those who may have gluten issues. The host did know about the gluten-free requirements and commented that traditional soy sauce is not gluten-free. It was not on offer, although non-gluten soy sauce is readily available at a modest price increase. While we were there a bus tour from Quebec arrived. A patron with a vegetarian diet was visibly distressed for being led to believe that there were viable vegetarian options. The dessert selection was extensive, but seemed to come from outside and frozen sources: various tortes, almond cookies, macaroons, ice cream, canned peaches, etc. The a la carte menu does has a fraction more for people with vegetarian and gluten-free concerns – but lacked the option of tofu as a protein source. Tofu could have easily been included as a dish in the buffet warming trays. The traditional Chinese tea for the group was pleasant with the first pot, but weak with the refill. Overall, I would give it a very basic rating, in agreement with its promotion above. If you are leading a bus tour, and have to be around these people for a while, don’t bring them to the House of Dragon for the woe you will entertain. Gananoque Resident.More

I carried out rather than trying the buffet. As far as Canadianized small town Chinese food goes it was fine. Pretty standard mixed veggies, chicken fried rice that could've used a frozen pea or two in it , soupy but tasty chicken in black bean...sauce. The hot and sour soup was above average.More

Was hands down the worst Chinese buffet I have ever had in my life. Very limited dishes to choose from, and poorly cooked. Any dishes that were empty were not replenished. No desserts except for canned peaches. I visited in September of 2019, there were...3 of us, and the cost was $68, that was with only water to drink.More

Food was cool. Tasted like it was three days old. Styrofoam dishes, (other than dirty glass provided for drink). Plastic cutlery. Didn't finish one plate.

I couldn’t leave 0 rating. This dragon has died. Only it hasn’t been buried yet. Nothing good about it. Oops. Sorry. There was one pleasure about coming here. LEAVING. Few choices. Warm at best. Go to no frills frozen food section Would taste better.

Definitely not what we normally see in the Chinese buffet. The building was clean and the help friendly but the food was subpar. We will not be back. At $34 definitely overpriced! The tea was $5.10

We were craving some good Chinese at the beginning of our 2 week vacation through Canada. The reviews were only ok, but thought we would give it a try. The food was hot and they did have real plates if you looked for them. There...weren't many choices of hot Chinese dishes, but they did have salad as well. It was ok, but not a restaurant that we would go to again.More

This food is sub par and made without care or talent. Service is friendly but why bother if you get better food from the local frozen food section at the grocery store? I broke down and went a third time, as too many other locals...rave about the food. Unfortunately none of them have lived in an Asian community, so maybe they just don't know better. We got a horrible stomach ache after and toilet issues for the next 24 hours. I'm glad more options have opened in town. It's about time people got better options!More
