We visited the Black Bear with friends & very much enjoyed the experience. The pub was fairly busy but we were seated & served promptly. Our server was friendly & efficient, both with the food & drinks & as a photographer! The pub serves an excellent range of craft beers & I particularly enjoyed its own distinctive ale. All of... We have been to the Black Bear a good number of times over the years and usually found it to be quite satisfactory - today, Remembrance Day, was different - they were quite busy and I think understaffed for the amount of patrons - two of our three brunch meals were awful and we had to return one - the... A large group of us were going to the Brown's in Lynn Valley but they had no room for 14 of us. We walked over to Black Bear and I must say I wasn't looking forward to it. I found on the menu there were a few options I could have with my dietary restrictions and I actually enjoyed them... More

We've been here several times now, and have never been disappointed. Sometimes the service has its moments, but that's when it's really busy. Usually it's good. We've not disliked any food or drink we've had here, and for sure it's a better place to be than sitting in traffic on the freeway (don't get me started on that!)

Just ate there with my family. Both boys ordered sprites and what we got was sugary, flat tasteless something. A real cheek at $3.50 a glass!! My husband's quesidilla arrived cold. My chop-chop salad was 'meh' and my son ordered caesar salad with his burger instead of fries, but it had a kind of yucky smell to it, so he... More

We went in Sunday night as a group and organized it the previous Friday (so only a couple days notice). While normally reservations will not be made for a smaller party, Grant made an exception as one of our party members was in a wheelchair. he helped me to organize everything by email and by phone and came over when... Visited this pub twice during our stay, and both times enjoyed our visit. Staff was friendly, helpful and willing to substitute menu items. Good beer selection too. Food came out fast and cooked perfectly. Nice place to unwind after a long day of hiking. Several options for vegetarians as well.

I Visited for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't overly busy, but the service was slow and the fries needed a few more minutes in the deep fryer. It took nearly 10 minutes for our beers to arrive after ordering. A table had just left when we got there and another server was noisily dragging chairs and tables around... More

The Black Bear has all the atmosphere and character of a nice pub, and excellent service, but I have to say that the food we ordered was disappointing. Two of us had scallops with spinach and almonds: these salads were drenched with onions, however, and these undermined the rest of the dish. Similarly, the calamari (in the form of baby... More
