I visited with friends on a week day. Nice cosy atmosphere and good service. Food choice on the menu was very limited. Tiny food portions and very pricey. No vegetables, salad or potatoes with the main meal (just a tiny portion of meat/fish). Everything was charged as extra. Ordinary dining experience for an extraordinary price I would say. Disappointing and... More

This was my fourth visit to the Griffin and I have never been disappointed. With two friends my wife and I enjoyed Sunday lunch. The venue and warm atmosphere is always comforting and the quality of the food is always top drawer. They offered an excellent alternative to one of our party who is gluten free and although it's not... More

Tried to get in on the Saturday evening but they were fully booked so went on Sunday evening hoping for scrumptious food and we weren't disappointed. They started by bring us lovely warm bread and perfect butter. We were on a No-Carb diet but the temptation was too much... WE SCORFFED THE BREAD!!! My starter was the Jerusalem Artichoke Soup... We stopped here for lunch en route to Tenby and were impressed with the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff. We will certainly return.

We were a 3 generation family and had a lovely big table with room for the pram. The menu had so many dishes to choose from in all courses. The staff were helpful explaining dishes where needed. We were not rushed even though we booked for near the end of service time. The restaurant has several rooms and we shared... More

We had a birthday meal here on the weekend - 4 of us had 2 course each, and 2 bottles of wine, for a really reasonable price. One of us is vegan so we called ahead to let them know, and they provided us with a separate vegan menu, not just 1 option! Overall we had an amazing meal and... More

My friends and I were recommended the food at the Griffin and we were not disappointed. We went for lunch and the food was very good. I had the beef bourguinon, it was delicious and reasonably priced too.

Stopped off for light bite prior to meeting and was initially impressed by setting and ambiance - however service slow despite being soup and pate. Pate had too little bread with it in terms of ratio to parfait and although offered more, male waiter too busy having banter with waitress which appeared to be derogatory towards customers so we paid... Wow, what a place! The Caradoc beer is good, the food outstanding with generous portions and reasonably priced. Friendly and welcoming staff, lovely log fires

Description
The exterior of Brecon’s Felin Fach Griffin may be of ‘another country pub’ but step inside and it’s almost as if chintz and row upon row of horse brasses never happened. Boldly coloured walls and plush leather couches sit happily alongside scrubbed wooden tables and chairs and historic beams, but it’s the food that we’re here for…the very food that has critics raving and the awards piling up. Locally sourced ingredients, including a selection from the restaurant’s own kitchen garden, provide a centrepiece for glorious dishes full of imagination. Make the most of melt in the mouth mains and to die for desserts but remember to leave room for the spectacular selection of Welsh cheeses which really make the meal.

The Felin Fach Griffin has won the Best Family Restaurant award for the United Kingdom in the 2008 Good Food Guide.
