This is to my mind the most amazing pub ever... Some people have funny ideas of what a pub needs to me the most important thing is welcome and atmosphere. All of the staff are great. Mark was born to be a land Lord. Makes me wonder where have all the Lords and ladies gone. Most pubs are now sadly... More

Having completed another of our walks (from our 1001 walks around Britain) we'd earmarked The Folly as our Sunday lunch stop and it didn't disappoint. We had our dog Winnie with us and there's a cute sign on the left door as you walk into the pub that makes it clear and welcoming for visitors with dogs (always helpful to... More

First time back here in 15 years! Landlord advised us before we bought our drinks that the kitchen was very busy due to 3 large parties having just arrived. We decided just to have drinks and sat out in the sun . 30 minutes later the land lord found us and gave us a menu even though it was approaching... More

We came here for a mid-week dinner. Relatively limited menu options but food was delicious. The pub is certainly off the beaten track, but well worth finding. It's a quirky place with a great atmosphere and friendly staff.

This was our first visit, a family of 10 adults and 4 children. All fully enjoyed the Sunday lunch, the staff made us very welcome and service was good. The puddings were excellent. We shall definitely be going back, this time perhaps we shall manage a walk along the canel.

Stopped here for dinner whilst on canal holiday. A really warm and welcoming traditional pub with great ales and top notch food. We were very well looked after and plan to visit again on the return journey. Shame we couldn't make the open mic night on Thursday!

Went with Daphne 629... Popped in for a pint and enjoyed one called 'Shagweaver' which was excellent and had another and that led to staying for dinner. Agree 100% with Daphne that the food was good quality and the steak was sourced from a local butcher. Would like to add that we had our dog with us. Very dog friendly... More

Having locked down the Napton Flight in heavy rain and moored at the bottom as it got dark we were very happy to visit the Folly. We were just going to have a drink but ended up having a fill scale meal for 4! The fillet steak was beautiful and cooked exactly as ordered. The decor is a little quirky... More

Stayed locally for a week and visited three times. Appears very dated but this adds to the charm of the pub. Pleasant staff but dining area a little draughty. Food portions a little large and well drowned in gravy a little less would be better. Beer kept well and prices reasonable.

Having arranged to meet at the Folly for a family lunch - 75 minutes drive for both parties - we really enjoyed a three hour catch-up in this welcoming and slightly quirky pub alongside the Oxford Canal. Table had been reserved in a warm corner and the menu was full and appealing. My sister-in-law had researched the favourites here on... More
