Good simple local dishes. The beer choices are interesting and very good. Music and quiz some nights.

Really enjoyed the fish and craft beers here. Really popular place. Always loads of cars parked along the roadside. We ate here twice ! Once at lunchtime - older gentleman behind bar didn't seem so pleased to be there but in the evening the young staff were fun.
Mussel Inn is a shady haven just off a busy road. They specialise in brewing their own beer which is very good. The food quality is also very good, but not expensive. They specialise in sustainability e.g. a composting toilet system is worthy of a visit!
Some places are perfect examples of what they're meant to be, and this is one of them. If the word "Inn" brings up an image of a big, high-ceilinged room with a large bar at one end, rustic wooden tables and chairs, a big hearth, a vine-covered courtyard with gigantic slab tables, and a big covered porch surrounding the whole... I stopped here 2 of the 3 nights that I was in Golden Bay. They had 5 or 6 of their own beers on tap along with 4 or 5 others in bottles. All of them were very good. The food is also pretty good with the bar snacks being a particularly good deal. Great laid back atmosphere to boot.... More
Three generations of our family visited for lunch with friends. The mussels were fresh, the setting was funky and everyone in the family from Grandma to the little ones was happy with their meals and drinks. Service was efficient and unobtrusive. We plan to return next summer!
Unpretentious, laid back. Great for locals and travellers alike. Simple but good menu. Friendly staff. Barn-like building, plank furniture, and surrounding deck gives it proper Inn feel. Variety of local and good beers. Open fireplace outside. Old steel beer kegs used as urinals - that's gotta be worth seeing in itself.
We stopped here on the way to Collingwood and had an excellent lunch, the steamed mussels were both good and plenty, other dishes also good and plentiful beverage choice
