We found this amazing restaurant that was so good. The ambience was friendly and the food was always good whatever we chose as was the excellent red wine. Gino and Dino made us so welcome we went back 4 times in 5 days! Thank you for making our visit one to remember. Good luck for the future, Heather and John.

Our last night here in Venice and we wanted something close by that had a relaxing family feel to it with good food. Gino's hit the spot. This a small inside dinning space with an outside area to eat as well. It was a bit tight, but you felt like you where " home" which made it even more cosy.... More

I reviewed Gino's on here a year ago, when we liked it's tasty, straightforward food enough to eat there twice in four days. I won't be making that mistake again in a hurry. I don't know if it is under new management, or 'Gino' was away but this week's meal was really very poor. We shared a veggie lasagna (small... More

If you're in a hurry and near the train station, then yeah sure go. But don't except good, quality Italian food. We settled on this place because we just couldn't walk any futrther. Service was fine and plenty of food options to choose from, just don't get your hopes up.

This place was the worst place we ate in the whole of Italy (Rome, Florence and Italy). Unfortunaly it was our last meal in Italy, one we wish we could forget. Service was OK. Pizza poor, a few pinches of toppings and my pasta looked like vomit on a plate. So bad, I really don't know how they can call... More

We chose Gino's based on the reviews and ranking here but were quite disappointed. The prices were great but unfortunately the lasagne I had was microwaved and cold in parts. The bolognese was fresh and used to try and mask the microwaved product. Service was average.

Really Sorry in you were disapponited but I just need to tell you that our lasagne are really homemade and we prepare everyday new portions. before serving lasagne it needs to get warmed and we use the oven, and I'm really Sorry if we didn't warm it enought. Hope to have the opportunity to make you chance opinion. Best regards... More

We randomly found this restaurant for dinner. The atmosphere is lovely. The staff is great and very welcoming. Small and quiet restaurant in Venice very close to train station. We ordered some dishes which are absolutely delicious. The price are acceptable.

We stumbled across this place last night & decided to have dinner there. The egg plant starter is UNREAL! We cannot stop thinking about it. Definitely recommend ordering it! We had meatballs for mains which again were lovely and the prosecco we were served was beautiful too. Wasn't bad value for money compared to some restaurants in Venice either.

My husband and I nearly missed this place and I am so glad we didn't. Lovely small restaurant that was packed even in January. Welcomes a complete mix of cultures. The owner Gino was very hospitable and his staff work really hard. Food was lovely and very very reasonable. Fully recommended a visit

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
