Delicious and wide selection of Padang food. Very clean and good service. The ayam gulai is highly recommended.

While visit dumai in Riau province, I am trying a lunch and dinner here. Taste of the food feels delicious but toilet facility for a guest very dirty.

This is my first time both go to Dumai and try Pak Datuk. It was near my hotel location. The restaurant provide Padangnese food. I like most of the menus. It were delicious. Just for some information, if you desperately hungry, don't eat at second floor since it may take longer time to deliver.

As with most padang style eateries, bear in mind you only pay for what you eat. So if you eat only 1 of 2 pieces of meat in the dish, the remainder goes back to the kitchen. So for diners with sensitive stomachs or imagination, do ask for your order to be reheated, newly cooked or make specific selections and tell them you want it refried or reheated. But when travelling we always bring charcoal pills anyway. Otherwise the food is good. The variety is wide. The juices are fresh. Price is reasonable. About Rp120,000 per person for an average meal.

It's not as I expected, it's a Padang food but not very hygenic, the restaurant environment was not welcoming, the sambal goreng eel was hard as rubber, the sambal Petai too oily, actually all the dishes too oily and cold, we were not served with vegetable dishes at all, anyway it's way too expensive for two adults lunch, it cost us about RP283,000 for the two of us and let me tell you we were not big eater...

Upon arriving Dumai, was whisked off to this restaurant. It was packed due to lunch hour. The plates of food were speedily displayed on the table. Only took some curry chicken, beef (tough as it was in a big chunk) and small fishes. Nothing wow about the food or place.

I personally recommend Baluik Goreng Kariang (Crispy Fried Eel) with green chillies and shallot sauce, along with several other dishes. The place is suitable for a business lunch, a meal with family, or a get together with friends. However, the menu is lack of variety of vegetables. The owner should add more vegetables to the table to balance the high-fat and cholesterol main course.
