Stumbled on this pub on our way to the show caves, really great home cooked food, good portion sizes, you can tell that they use fresh ingredients, fire blazing in the fire place, friendly staff and a great selection of beers. Would highly recommend.

Visited the Ancient Briton again, after a great previous meal. Took the in-laws this time and had a lovely Saturday lunch, with great beers and very generous portions! The staff are always friendly and attentive, and the food is really tasty - I'd recommend the chef's special burger, if it's on. :-) I'm sure we'll return again and again.

Recently visited this pub on recommendation of my daughter and son in law.Really nice sunday lunch meal.I had pork whilst my companion(my father) had beef. The portion sizes were more than adequate and the food was piping hot.One small criticism though. The plates of food came with the meat on a bed of mashed potato and a roasty but had gravy already... Busy traditional pub. Friendly staff. Traditional fare reasonably executed. Fine for those who like old fashioned pub dining - don't expect contemporary decor or menu.

Stopped for food and drink to break up a long journey. Very good pub food, homemade and plenty of it. Great choice of beers. Waitress Angie was delightful and so helpful. Good value and well worth a visit.

Busy Pub with friendly staff and nice menu. Had Brie to start was nice and then had very nice steak. Chips were a bit greasy for my liking but not something that would put me off returning. Rest of group also enjoyed Gammon - Curry and must say the biggest fish ive seen. Ill be back.....

We were very disappointed. Average food and small portions. Obviously they favour the locals as the plates of the table next to us (5 adults and a baby) were piled high. I had to ask for more custard as the amount they sent out didn't even cover my dessert spoon. A work colleague who lives nearby recommended the pub to... More

We visited The Ancient Briton this evening for the first time and were very pleased. We were made to feel very welcome by the staff, especially our waitress, Angie. She was very attentive, helpful and friendly. The food was gorgeous, all homemade, and we will definitely be returning again soon. Thank you!
