We had dinner on a Saturday with friends.

We went to the Antica Locanda last Sunday after a day spent in the Maiella mountains. I found this restaurant doing a short search on the internet and we entered quite skeptical having read ONLY five star reviews (very rare ). What to say? Impossibile dare meno!!!!! Owner and chef Concetta is a delight - warm and accommodating - in an intimate, romantic setting. While the atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed, Concetta misses no detail, from perfectly timed courses served on creative dinnerware, to background music that is spot on for the moment.
Dishes are made from scratch (including recipes from Nonna) and all ingredients are sourced from Pacentro its surroundings. Concetta is happy to share family history and carefully explain each dish and wine. Every single morsel of food was fantastic.

My friends and I had lunch at the old inn in the historic center of Pacentro on October 31.

We went to this restaurant intrigued by excellent reviews from friends! recently opened is an inn located in the historic center of Pacentro, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy!
Very rustic but elegant and refined environment; Concetta the owner welcomes us, very knowledgeable and explains every dish she brings us, very punctually! she immediately warns us that what will be served in the inn is a tasting journey and we must agree with her that it was truly an exaltation of the senses and taste! We tasted local cheeses combined with excellent jams, cooked must and honey, a platter of cured meats always at zero km, truly remarkable together with local delicacies such as fried polenta, polta, tripe with sauce, livers, pizza with local wild vegetables and scrippelle... fantastic! What an amazing meal !!! We were treated to a multi-course Prix Fixe Italian Reposo mealtime. It was the perfect experience- the decor is inviting and intimate, the wine selection was a wine only available in the restaurant, the service was not service it was an invitation to be a good friend and perhaps even extended family... a home that you hadn't experienced before. And the food. Dishes that had spent 6 hours simmering and let you in on the experience of what it would have been like to come home as a kiddo to Nonna's love and delicious comfort food. We were treated to explanation of each course that was beautifully served and pleasing to both eye and palate. Vegetarians need to check before settling in for a meal as we had a number of lovely Pacentro meaty offerings. My family and I look forward to returning.
