My wife and I were the only people in the place and ordered two fruit juices and an order of nachos. Either the kitchen staff hand formed and fried the chips prior to constructing our dish, dispatched someone for missing supplies to a grocery store in San Juan Del Sur or watched the entire 30 minute YouTube on "10 Tips... Would give it zero stars if it were possible. The only place in Nicaragua I've ever felt unwelcomed was here. The owners are fundamentalist Christians and apparently they sized us up as "sinners" and basically refused to serve us. Or rather, we eventually came to that conclusion when, after an hour's wait, our drinks hadn't arrived. And, by the way,... More

We booked a boat tour for the sunset, for my whole family and it turned out to be one of the most beautiful vacation in Nicaragua.

We got into Playa Gigante late and went here for a late night dinner - best fish tacos! Quick service was friendly enough. I'd go back for sure.

I was highly disappointed with this place. Some of the ladies from my Spanish class and I went for lunch. We were the only people there and it took almost 45 minutes for someone to come and take our order. Then we waited another 30 to 35 minutes for our food and it was not what the menu said. After... Food at La Gaviotta was great. Service was very Nicaraguan, indeed: friendly but not no sense of urgency. We rented surf boards from them twice and they were super helpful and friendly. No need for deposit or pre-payment. I had whole grilled fish and it was great.

Go here if you want amazing fish tacos. The restaurant sits on the beach and is owned by a large family. Generally, the service is very "Nicaraguan" with very slow response. Don't go if you want to get in and out quickly. But to experience a true local experience, its a good one. Also extremely cheap!
