Pokeno Country Cafe has good coffee and the food is good but the prices are way too high for what you get. Shame because it's a good location.

We are always welcomed with a smile and a giggle... good range of food, good coffee, hot chocolate, milk shakes, and they will even grab a truckie a pie if there are none in the warmer :-) It is clean, comfortable, reasonably priced, just wish it was open later...for when I am feeling lazy ..

Basic cafe in a convenient location. Food was basic and good. Staff nice. Kids liked the quiches and salad.

wanted to order a proper breakfast but the choice/price put me off. I ended up with a steak n kidney pie (good amount of kidney but needed to be hotter) and a cuppa tea (nice and hot). Said no milk but got it anyway. chairs were comfy and lots of natural light so I could read while eating. the café... More

This place has certainly changed over the past few years, every time we stop it seems to get worse. Food was ok, very over priced. Mocha was disgusting strong bitter coffee that over powered the Chocolate. The person who served me had trouble understanding English, but thankfully the barista stepped in. The place needs a total make over, and for... More

Not a great start to out visit to Pokeno! Not particularly friendly staff, the menu is limited & has odd additional ingredients like beetroot on a burger! Fussy bread & fatty bacon on a B.L.T always turns my stomach! Had to deconstruct just to eat it! Outdated decor & in need of a deep clean! Full of construction works &... More

Rather expensive, and while it has the benefit of location and captured market, the food selection is average and expensive compared to others in the region

Visited this cafe for refreshments when heading South from Auckland. The detour through Pokeno offered a pleasant respite from heavy traffic on SH1. This cafe is quaint and the dated interior is rather like stepping back into tea rooms of a bygone era. The couple who served us we're welcoming and affable. They were busy undertaking baking, presumably for the... More

Always call into Pokeno for the fabulous butcher on the way to and from Auckland. So of course have a coffee and one of the best sponge drops in the world!! So light and fluffy and delicious. Can't comment on the rest of the food, but does all seem a bit pricey. Pleasant to sit in the outside courtyard (undercover)... More

Quick stop on the way back from Auckland. Pies were very tasty. Coffee wasn't great but drinkable. Restrooms were clean and tidy. Would stop again.
