You eat what i cook! No menu you choose between meat, vegetraian or vegan and you get food. Really funny experience. The owner is super nice and friendly.

We were just two hungry tourists road tripping through Crete when we found this gem of a place. The lady was very welcoming, kind and quickly told us that there is no menu just ABSOLUTE delicious food that she prepared that day. Food was amazing,...home cooking style and full of flavour. This is a true gem in this beautiful and less touristy part of Crete. We are both vegetarian, and Vivi made sure that we have a delicious dinner! We ate their twice, and Vivi ensured that the menu is varied enough so we will not...repeat the same dishes. Other than the great food and the great value for money, we really enjoyed Vivi's hospitality and friendliness. We really enjoyed the conversation with her and her interesting life story. Fabulous choice of local food. Help yourself in a Buffet. Mother and daughter ran this Taverna. We went one night and wished we had found it sooner. We will be back.

One of our favourite moments, on our trip to Matala, was meeting the lovely women from Vegera. We signed ourselves up for a cooking course and had a blast! We learned some traditionel Greek recipes and methods, that we can use at home. We also...met one of Zaros' biggest treasures, Vivi. A lovely and funny woman we will never forget and will revisit when we come back. For a low price you'll get a fun and educational experience you'll never forget with lots of food afterward.More

It's a certain cost per person (12€) and you get to eat whatever you want. There were around 10 main plate options when we visited, 5-6 different salads and a few starters. You can add as many as you want and refill infinite times. There...is a micro for some plates that may be cooler than you want though they maintain them with some heat below like a classic buffet. You will most certainly get to know the mother and daughter that run the place from the first time. MUST VISIT for bikers. A trip to Zaros (my second this year) would not be compete without at least two visits to Vegera, don't be fooled by the excellent value, the food is home cooked, fresh and delicious. What an amazing restaurant- genuine cretan cuisine, very simple and familiar atmosphere; the restaurant is run by mother and daughter, both very friendly and generous; it was a great and original experience we will never forget!
