I've never been disappointed at any occasion wether with a friend or a group of eight. Bring your own wine is cool but the food there is fresh, and reasonable portions to pricing. Great Vietnamese dishes. That's what you're going for beside the old classics such as Tao, and spring rolls. Although the Menu is sort of Limited, it is... More

I've been going to this place since it opened, about 25 or 30 years ago. It used to be a small ordinary place with little or no decor but the soup, the Pho, was and still is out of this world, even if the decor was somewhat updated since. The 2 sisters who run the place have kept their mother's... More

Service is good. Prices in range. Food is great: I love the 'poulet citronelle' and also the peanut chicken. We also had the sizzling seafood. One of my favourite restaurants in town!

The service is alright; the waitress forgot to bring us a wine opener and wine glasses. The decor is cute and the restaurant is very clean. The food is great. I had the imperial rolls and General Tao chicken on rice. The chicken wasn't what I was expecting. Instead of thickly breaded chicken in a gooey orange sauce, I got... More

Small and busy, can't wait to go back to try other dishes. Owner serves and is very friendly! Close to Palais de Congres

So after reading some reviews here, I think I need to make something clear- this is not a restaurant that tries to make up for its uninspiring dishes with nice decor (like far too many places in the village...). If you set foot in here, its for the food. Hands down, this place has the best beef pho my tastebuds... More

A tiny, hole in the wall in the Gay Village on Amherts street, tucked away is a family run, Vietnamese restaurant. Small cosy and full on a snowy Monday night ... Its a bring your own wine restaurant ( no corkage fees in Montreal). Cash only. We had the Vietnamese fondue. A lemon-grass broth with chicken, shrimps, veggies and spicy.... More

Unpretentious (plastic water cups), good food. Grilled chicken and shrimp was tasty but not as crisp as I like. The table d'hote meals are a good buy with soup, salad, spring roll and dessert included with the main dish. Nice neighborhood atmosphere. Does not take credit cards.

There must be at least twenty vietnamese restaurants in the neighborhood that offer better food in a more appealing decor. We visited based on TA comments but will not return.

This is a small place on a non-commercial street. The food is excellent. This is rare for an asian restaurant but the broth of the soup is so tasteful. Try the fried fruits for dessert, super.

Staying in The Village (Gay Village)

Neighbourhood Profile
The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomised by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.
