Butter chicken is not the usual its a bit on the sweet side but im sure u can ask to have it more hot. We ordered a vegetarian potato and mint plate which... More

1) one of the dirtiest restaurants I have ever visited in any category. The men's bathroom has mothballs for air fresheners. There is a nice Indian statue on top of the door with a nice layer of dust on it. 2) we had the special #1 for 2 that included butter chicken and lamp. The lamb didn't taste like anything.... More

What can I say. I've been a regular of Star of india since 1995. I'm a caucasian that loves indian food, and try a lot of different indian restaurants, but just keep coming back at Star of India... :). The decor is so-so, but the food is fabulous, whether you like it mild or spicy, and the staff is *always*... More

Star of India is one of the 3 very good Indian restaurants on Sherbrooke W. street. The food is plentiful and tasty. You will not be disappointed.

This is the best Indian food I had ever had. The butter chicken is amazing and the vindaloo had some heat to it . The naan was fresh and delicious. The service is great. I recommend it to everyone and they all enjoyed it. If you want to have Indian food, this is a must!

I remember being there almost six years ago. Loved it, but i live in the east end of Mtl and hate having to search for a parking spot down town.... We've been to Etoile des Indes this past week, my husband and I, plus both our moms ( the moms are pickier than we both are with food) : we... More

In the middle of all the cheap student fast foods around Concordia and the all you can eat sushis, you will find this well hidden Indian gem. It is the best butter chicken on a budget. cheap house wine and fantastic combos to share including the appetizers and desserts. Highly recommend!

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
