As a vegetarian, I've tried numerous restaurants in the past, and Nilufar is the only one I have found who serves tofu in their pitas, and at an affordable price. I'm obsessed with the Tofu-Taouk, and feel it's the best veggie pita in the city! I've brought numerous people to try their food, and they all love it as well!... More

I can see why students love this place; the falafel sandwiches here are super cheap, among other food that’s offered. That said, this very unassuming place (centrally located in between Fort & St Marc), is best known for their very affordable falafels. Nilufar has three different kinds: the Super Falafel with eggplant, the Zen Falafel with zucchini & the Mega... More

Nilufar offers great fresh food at at unbelievably low price even though some items such as the falafels are believed to be among the best in Montreal! Very honorable business, that treats everybody like family.

This is an unassuming, cafeteria - looking place but they have the best deal in town, a falafel pita trio, including soup and juice for around 4$! The food is great and fresh and very vegetarian friendly. The staff is friendly and happy to be there

For the crescendo of universe-shattering taste, sincere service, and affordability, believe this is it. A falafel is 1.50$. Once you economically calculate your life by falafels, you can't lose.

Wow I remember going here in the 90's and it now in 2015 the prices are almost the same, good job on keeping it real! Ask for hot or garlic sauce.

Due disclaimer, I've been a devotee of Nilufar since 1995. I have lived abroad since 2002, and still come back every time I'm in town for the same order, two falafels, extra hot sauce (always in twos, since they started with the 2/99c deal in the mid-90s). I have never been disappointed. Sure, it's a hole in the wall- but... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
