We recently visited this restaurant both for lunch and dinner as we both love Turkish food, but having recently become vegan we weren't sure if we could enjoy Turkish food anymore. While in Montreal we stumbled upon this lovely Turkish restaurant, with beautiful authentic Turkish decorations. There is a lady sitting in the window display rolling out very thing dough... More

The food here is totally amazing and definitely worth trying more than once! The meat is grilled to perfection and there are many vegetarian options on the menu. Unfortunately, the service is very slow but worth it once you've taken your first bite ;) The gozleme in every flavour combo are amazing and the sandwiches are satisfying...the said kavurma was... I highly recommend this restaurant for its authenticity as well as the delicious Turkish food. This was our first family vacation in Montreal and I came across this Turkish Restaurant online and decided to give it a shot. It was actually really surprising to have the similar deliciousness of Turkish kebabs that I tasted it Turkey. We ordered Urfa kebap... More

We were five at supper. One vegan and four omnivores, and there were excellent choices for us all! Plus, we were able to choose from a nice list of beers, a few wines and Raki (the Turkish anise drink). Mezze (Turkish appetizer plates) were varied and delicious. Stuffed vine leaves (Dolma) were available in vegan and meat formats; the Muhammarra... More

Great food, priced nicely, large space between tables, great staff. Worthwhile to dine at if you need a nice quiet informal restaurant.

We like ethnic food, so when we heard of Avesta, a Turkish restaurant on Rue St Catherine West, we decided to try it. Parking is non-existent here on a Saturday night, but somehow we found a spot right on St Catherine. We had a reservation and were seated promptly, but that was basically the only attention we received from the... More

My wife and I visit Montreal on a regular basis to dine out at the many fabulous restaurants the city offers. As is our habit we always leave time to wander for discovery of new locations and that is when we passed by Avesta's location. We where captivated by the woman in the window preparing a gozleme on the saj... More

Four of us dined on a hot Tuesday night. The Muhammara, dolmas, hummus, fresh grilled flatbread. golems, menemen were delicious. The beef kofta a bit of a disappointment as was the lamb dish ( smallish pieces in a tasty good sauce however not as tender as I make myself!). Host and wait staff were very friendly and cordial. Overhead fans... More

We walked in late night with wife and our kids to try something different. We asked for help in selecting from menu. We were surprised how good the meals were. I had Sadi Kaburma with lamb. "Incroyable." The food was delicious. Glad we stopped in.

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
