Restaurant Au Tarot is a MUST GO when we visit Montreal. Monsieur Nouredine is always a warm and generous host. It's like visiting family! A cozy moroccan decor takes you to places far away for an authentic experience. Plats du jour or a la carte, the portions are large and excellently prepared. The Salade Tarot is a beautifully arranged pile... More

Impressed! And I don't say it often! I had lamb shank couscous and I would return tomorrow for another one! Rodolph the waiter was impeccable as well! Washrooms are clean! Highly recommend for a family / friends supper or a romantic Mediterranean date!

A cozy and authentic decor along with a warm welcome make this restaurant a pleasant experience. We were offered off-menu dishes such as the lamb mechoui which along with the couscous royal and the lemon chicken tagine were as delicious as any we tasted in Morocco. Parking is an issue and the prices are on the higher side but the... More

Went there for dinner with the family because we love couscous and we used to go to another place on Marie Anne which was closed at the time. Dishes are expensive here, and don't expect to share chicken-merguez couscous between your kids, they will charge you an extra $19! For what? Vegetables and semoule? Which is quite flavorless anyway ...... More

This little hideaway is probably the best Moroccan Middle Eastern food I have ever tasted. Having grown up in north Africa and having add some of the finest food and my mom's kitchen this was absolutely divine. Tarik our waiter treated us as though we were regulars. On the way out of the restaurant I love a couple from Paris... More

We were looking for Moroccan food in Montreal and found this on Trip Advisor. The food was as good as my Mother in law used to cook. We started with the artichoke and hearts of palm salad which was so fresh and tasteful. Casserole d'escargot was prepared to perfection. Harira soup was so proficiently spiced with a great consistency. The... More

This is definitely one of my favourite, if not my favourite restaurant in Montreal. It can be a bit pricey depending on what you order (or meal of choice costs about $80 CAD for two people) but the quality of the food and the service is exemplary. The owner treats guests like family, he is warm and welcoming each visit.... More

Went with a friend for couscous. We had the Couscous Royal (chicken, lamb and merguez) and it was delicious, it was my first time eating this kind of couscous. It was a very nice cozy restaurant with great food. It's also a BYOW (bring your own wine) which was great. We went on a Tuesday night and it was very... More

I was sick of ordering always cheap chinese food or pizzas when I wanted delivery, so I did a bit of research and found Au Tarot ! I ordered the Lamb tajine with prunes and it was amazing ! The portions are huge, they always give you free soup with vegetables to put on your couscous, and I even got... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
