This is a restaurant that I was so excited to try that I made the dinner reservation before booking our hotel reservation. All I can say is that the meal was absolutely incredible. I am baffled that this wonderful establishment recieved negative reviews. If you...More

Every dish served was beyond our expectation. Their prosciutto with buffalo cheese was so good. My wife had the suckling pig plate. Her reaction when she saw the quantity of food: wow. And when she had that first bite: oh wow. Franco was our waiter....More

A very unique space that is essentially the basement of an old building. Food was really good. The burata was some of the best I have ever consumed. Their meat balls are a signature dish and for a very good reason. They are incredible. We...More

I now understand why this restraurant keeps attracting so many famous people and celebrities! The food was very good, and it's typical Italian dishes that you'd find in Rome...not so common in Montreal. I was there with two friends of mine (born and raised in...More

While in Montreal we dined at the old woman's prison that was converted to a restaurant! Great ambience!!! I had a side of the veal meatballs and the fettuccine pasta with mushrooms as my entree. I loved the veal meatball! The pasta was a bit...More

This is one of the highest rated Italian restaurants in Montreal. The chef is Nonna Emma and she is in her mid 80's. If you're Italian and used to good authentic home cooked Italian food, then you will feel like you are eating at home...More

This rating should be between a 2.5 and 3. First, the positives - The restaurant is located underneath a building in a very cool cellar. It felt like Buca Mario in Florence. The pasta tasted fresh and light. The negatives- The veal dish, which was...More

The ambiance of this restaurant was the only positive. The menu is written in small cursive that is brought to your table on a chalkboard where the server reads through the long list. Very difficult to read and with simply a name for the dish...More

Great restaurant. Highly recommended by anyone visiting Montreal. A former "woman's prison" , the ambiance is quaint. Food is delicious, and Emma herself cooks everything...an 86 year old woman. Don't miss it

Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the
Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and
commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship
stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate
headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by
nightfall transforms from a business district into a
youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and
restaurants heavily peopled by students and young

It was a pretty fancy place. I would recommend a cocktail dress for the ladies and dress pants and collard shirt for the men. Although a well put together outfit would be acceptable as well. It's always nice to have the... More
