I've been here dozens of times. I try to avoid busy times during lunch and dinner because the service is beyond terrible during those hours. I decided to go mid way between the 2 mealtimes. The service is still bad so because of this I don't think I'll be going back. I ordered a vermicelli bowl which is quite tasty... More

Came here for lunch because it was recommended in my Le Routard Montréal guide. As good a reason as any other. This place is a bit shabby, cramped and the waiting staff haven't been to finishing schools. But the food is ever so good and cheap. We had bún which was fresh, tasty and satisfying. We thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful.

I've been here many times, brought many people here many times, over many years, food is good, but service today was awful. Someone, please teach the lady behind the cash counter how to at least say 'Merci, or Thank you'.. When a group of 5 people choose to come and eat at the resto., instead of grabbing the money like... The last thing we expected to do, was have Vietnamese food in Canada, but that's exactly what happened, and we were not sorry! We are pretty well versed in Pho, and this was fantasticThe tables are long, and people sit family style, so don't come here if you have spacial issues, or need privacy; you won't get it here, but you... Excellent and plentiful food for a very modest price (under 20 for 2 of us). Note: NO alcohol is served, and be prepared to share your table. It's not a romantic place.

Spent a day walking downtown Montreal and ended up in the Chinese Neighborhood. Decided to walk in to have dinner here. Prawns & Beef on Vermicelli was the best. Reminds me of Pho Restaurant in Vancouver. This is now my favorite in Montreal.

Came there during our holidays in Montreal. The place is clean, tea cups and utensils are clean too. We had pho and fried spring rolls. Their pho was just average, fried spring rolls were very good, not made by Vietnamese rice paper though. The reason I give this place 5 stars because of the excellent customer service, the servers were... More

Stopped-by on a very cold evening for a quick meal. Waited 5 minutes to be seated, fast order and fast food delivery. We had a great grilled chicken and shrimp pho soups that were very filling and tasty. We'll be back for sure. The place is very busy, be ready to wait for a table-it's worth it.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Bakeries, markets, restaurants, and buffets crowd the brightly graffitied streets of Chinatown, the city's aromatic destination for pan-Asian cuisine. Distinguished at its entry points by towering vermillion paifang gates, the compact neighbourhood acts as a focal point for the Chinese community, hectic with educational facilities, cultural centres, acupuncturists, and foreign-language newspapers. Especially vibrant in the warmer months, when the sweet smell of dragon beard candy along the pedestrian walks of Rue de la Gauchetière signal the beginning of the outdoor street fair season, Chinatown is a treasure hunter's dream, with enough knickknack and curiosity shops to tempt even the pickiest shoppers. The convivial vibe picks up after dark, when the area's active nightlife offers evening crowds their choice of drink, dance, and midnight snacks of pho or oysters. Chinatown's mix of new and old, with herbal remedies being sold alongside pop-culture DVDs, gives the area its own animated brand of moxie.
