The food isn't too bad and the waiter is friendly and attentive. I just don't go for pineapple in every dish, no matter what you order. Beware sitting by the windows in winter: there is a cold air blowing from the poorly sealed windows.

We really enjoyed our visit to Le Petite Mangue. The waiter was very kind and helped us to choose our meals. The three course dinner was good value. We had the salad rolls, tom yum soup, amok and quails. The quails were cooked very well with a ginger garlic flavour. The vegetable side was pickled and not my favourite part.... More

We found this gem while walking around Mt. Royal neighborhood. So glad we tried it. The soup was excellent - with lemongrass, coconut, and a bit of heat. A little bit of noodles gave just the right texture. Mango spring roll was accompanied by really tasty peanut sauce. The entree was delicious and plentiful, and I loved the bowls they... More

Very good food. Great service. Staff is a great help. We were 2 people on Saturday night. Casual local restaurant. We had the Cambodian specialty - Amok fish (marinated and steamed in banana leaf) it was very tasty. We had the table d'hôte which included choice of roll and soup. The desert was fried ice cream and fried banana .... More

If you like Cambodia Asian Fusion, you'll love this place, among this eclectic bohemian shopping district. we opted for a fish lemon grass soup, that tasted great, and a wonton chicken base soup, that was also delicious, some pork spring rolls that were fresh, and tasty, followed by two General Tao chicken meals, amok fish, and a coconut based tapioca... I always like to try different places to eat and I had wanted to try this one for quite a while. It used to be advertised as a BYOW place, but since they got their alcool license, they sell wine. The wine prices are affordable compared to other places, the cheapest starting at 19$ (cnd$). We were two and decided... More

This little jewel serves both Cambodian and other "International Asian" food. We tried 4 different soups, all of which were really tasty. The pork filled spring rolls were highly appreciated. Then we had 4 different main courses - all of which fully satisfied everyone's taste. Finally the patron offered a free dessert of roasted banana. All of this for 18... More

It's one of better ones in terms of Asian cuisine. There're fusion dishes for my cousins who wouldn't eat anything other than wonton soup, eggroll, and either general tao or peanut butter chicken or padthai. I love their Cambodian stuff like the Amok fish, kroeung or quails. They seem to use a lot of spices that I'm not familiar which... More

I lived for a few years in Cambodia and miss the food. Few restaurants serve such fare because it doesn't have a strong reputation yet and some dishes can challenge Euro-centric palates. These guys serve a good selection of authentic dishes, some with a French influence, and a few that are more like Thai. Although Cambodian is different than Thai,... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
