This is chef Derek Damman's creation lab, it is a place to bring your tastebuds to another level. The room is funky cool and trendy, it is filled eith trendy young and not so young people. The food is terrific and tasty. We had the paté de foie gras and the beets as appetizers. The foie gras was creamy smooth... More

Went for dinner and drinks. The food was amazing but a little expensive if you're starving. Tapas style with amazing assortment of choices. The staff is super friendly with great recommendations. We also went for the most amazing pancakes the next morning.

This is an interesting place. It looks like very old establishment - but clearly it's just a decoration. In terms of food they are trying to be creative. Not sure they succeeded. We came with two Vie Urbaine coupons for four people. It was a tasting menu. With five services it was borderline not enough food. I think probably because... More

Went here on a recommendation from a friend and loved it! The vibe is that of a casual pub, the staff were all very friendly, and the food excellent (all sharing plates). Would definitely come back. The food stand-outs for us were: cheese & pepperoni, baked oyster, shrimp appetizer, and green tagliatelle pasta. The only thing that didn't work for... More

Visited for the first time with friends. Welcomed from the moment we arrived. Great service, knowledge of food purveyors and explanation of menu for the evening. We went with the Chef's Service which let us try a wide range of the local products. Favourites were the Parfait Foie Gras and the duck with lentils but truthfully there was not one... More

The restaurant offers original and creative cousin, prepared from fresh local farms products. The menu is flexes daily subject to same day products. The dishes served to a table as prepared and shared between diners. We tried several of them and all were original creative, special and very testy. The service was outstanding, courteous and kind! In addition to all... More

My son who lives in Montreal took us here for brunch on a Saturday (brunch is only served on the weekends). The decor is fabulous! It felt like we were in our "local" as in England. The menu is on the board on the wall; don't hesitate to ask the servers about the dishes. We had huevos rancheros, pancakes smothered... More

Decided not to give this place a try in the end on account of the unwelcoming and arrogant staff. Very wanky place that is just too cool.

I visited this place with friends last night. My first time here. We had made reservations. Then I read many of the reviews onTA this morning to see what others were saying. Here are my honest thoughts: The place is a local pub-like restaurant. I would say cozy as it is not very big and unpretentious. The decor is unique... More

We didn't go in with many expectations - but this was a definite highlight of my trip! The decor is beautifully hipster and it almost looks like your neighbourhood pub. The food is anything but! We opted for the $60 per person tasting menu (we had intended on trying the $75pp... go big or go home... but when we told... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
