One of the highlights of visiting Montreal is going for couscous. I make it at home and we never have leftovers but nothing compares to the spices and cookery of North African expertise. If you go to a place called Menthe et Couscous, you can't go wrong ordering couscous and mint tea.

We has the Royal couscous for 2, it was really VERY good! the broth was so delish! We also had the moussaka dip served with warm olive bread, yum. The place is small but clean and comfortable, but its not shabby or anything. Service was slow but that suited us fine, we hate feeling rushed. We will definitely be back!!

Interior was small, but passable. Food was copious but not amazing, One server for the whole place tried hard. Staff's kids running around everywhere even after 8pm on a summer Friday night. Promised entertainment never happened. No reason to return.

Hello, Sorry to learn about your disappointment. Just to clarify things please: 1- our entertainment is on Saturdays only and we never advertised that we have entertainment on Friday. If you want to attend the belly dance show it is only on Saturday (it is well mentioned in our website and on the cards distributed at the Resraurant). Kindly call... More

Friendly atmosphere, Delicious meals, excellent service. We spent a great time eating, drinking & watching billy dancing. Initially i was underwhelmed by the place but was pleasantly surprised with food, hospitality and the entertainment.

Had a lovely dinner (tagines and couscous) at this Tunisian restaurant in Montreal. You can even bring your own wine.

Menthe et Couscous is a narrow but comfy little spot in the St. Denis area. Not sure how popular it is, as on the night we were there, we were the only diners. It was fairly late on a Sunday evening though. That said, we were treated with good service (not white-glove by any means, but serviceable) and never felt... More

Best couscous in town and great service. On the top you can bring your own wine and enjoy a belly dancer show. Strongly recommend it.

This restaurant is located right across from the Quartier Latin cinema, and is very handy for a meal after a movie. It serves the usual dishes, namely various couscous and tajines. I had the couscous Royal which is a variety with merguez, chicken and lamb. It was quite good though a bit unusual. Normally the 'semoule' in a couscous arrives... More

I went to this amazing restaurant before, and this is my second time there. I can tell, they amazed me for the second time. The food is sooo fresh and tasty, one of the best meals I ever had. The waitress was helpful to recommend us the appetizers plate to share for two, with the fatma fingers and the "amuse-bouche"... More

Staying in Quartier des Spectacles

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier des Spectacles
The bar-none entertainment district for music and arts, Quartier des Spectacles is an interactive playground that delights the senses. It totals over 30 performance halls, with the vibrant Place des Festivals at its heart. The outdoor event space features glowing towers, glass edifices, and granite-lined bike paths, and hosts annual festivals, concerts, and comedy nights. The cinema, theatres, and exhibition centres are entwined with external art projects, exemplified at Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum and appearing along every walkway of the Promenade des Artistes in the form of sculpture and public works, from digitally-enhanced swingsets to glowing fountains. Design, performance, and alternative music come together here, a stone's throw from the lively Latin Quarter along Rue Saint-Denis, the quintessential after-party spot for dinner and a drink following a day of jazz, poetry and play.
